Running Gagg is having a convnetion and we are having a tournament Saturday February 6 starting at 10am and 1850pts . It will be run like a rogue trader with player judged sportsmanship and comp. It should be $15 EF and we will have a fair amount of prizes. I hope to see as many possible for this tournament. Boldo

Any idea on how the scoring system is set up, like percentages and stuff? Is it about actually playing the game or heavy on soft score shenanigans?

ugh, don't tell us. it doesn't matter. if you like the game, just go and have fun. plan on their being some kind of comp system (there normally is) and just bring a fair list with variety in choices, and some uncommon units (not necessarily bad ones... I use typhoons / bikers in my marine lists, which are kind of uncommon, but quite powerful).
to not go to a tournament just because there is a chance you won't win is kinda silly, especially if its as close as geneseo.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease, the more people know the better dialogue we can get going and maybe improve things. I'd much rather a tournament reward play rather than how pretty your dollies are or how good you are at shooting yourself in the foot. Seems like based on the website sports is player scored and comp is judge scores. Not sure how significant it is, but I suppose for 5 bucks it's worth a look. Now I have an excuse to go out drinking there on Friday, crash at my buddy's place, then hopefully get up in time for the tourney

One question: Will the new Tyranid codex be allowed in the tourney?
It will have been out for almost a month by this point and i feel it's gotten a lot of exposure.

I'd have no problem with allowing the new bugs list. Plus, allowing it may increase our turnout.

Do we have to register for the convention to play in the tournament?

Assuming they do things as in past years - no you don't need to register for the Con to play. You just show up and register/pay the day of the tourn. for the 40k event.

The new tyranid is legal the old one would not be. As for scoring I have asked shaun to run this but I am assuming that there will be 20% painting, 20% sportsmanship, 10% player judged comp, and 50% battle.
