I was wondering what everyone here uses to seal their models from handling and usage? I've tried the Matt Varnish that GW puts out but wasn't happy with the finished product.
Also, at Saturday's tournament I remember over hearing Chris (I THINK it was Chris...the white necron player) talking about how he painted his white. He described paitning the white and then immediately hitting the model with clear coat and then painting the other colors over it. Does anyone know what clear coat he was referring to?
Thanks a lot fo any advice and tips!

I believe the clearcoat he talks about is made by Krylon, Comes in a silver can with a black lid. For some reason it says "Black Paint" on it but i'm sure it will just dry clear, so don't worry too much if it looks a little opaque on application. ;D

I usually seal models with two coats of gloss sealer. This forms a hard shell that prevents the paint from being rubbed off. I think a gloss finish is the best protection you can give a model.
After the gloss I go over them with two coats of Testor's Dullcote. It's the best matte finish spray I've found. The matte kills the shine from the gloss. Over time the matte finish will wear off and the shiny gloss coat will start to show through. That's just an indicator to re-seal the models before paint wear happens.

I use the Krylon "crystal clear" gloss, it does give a shiny appearance but on my orks it looks good.

The problem is that it's not always a good one.
