This seems the right place. A buddy of mine is running an Indy GT later this year in the Virginia/DC/Maryland area. Info's up on the site: novaopen.com/Looks like a good time, a little something for everybody and Games Day is right around the corner afterwards. I'm definitely gonna go, provided my knee is all in working order by then and I don't have to crutch it up The organizer, MVBrandt, is also looking for folks to give him feedback on the scenarios and overall workings of the event. He posted up on his blog ( whiskey40k.blogspot.com/2010/04/nova-open-primer-tournament-how-you-can.html) that they're running a primer event to test things out themselves, and he's asking other groups if they'd give it a try and send him back any feedback. I'd like to help him out, just wondering if anybody else would too.

sounds like fun, i'd be in for a mini stress test. Maybe i'll try a razorback spam list if we're throwing comp out the window, i might as well go balls deep into asshat territory, space wolf codex and everything!

Isn't May 8 the same day as the tournament at Millennium?

Oh snap, you're right. Would anybody still be willing to try it, maybe somewhere else? I'll talk to Mike and see if we can't do it some other time. That's the spirit, horst

Good Afternoon All, I just wanted to drop into this thread and thank Chumbalaya for his post and effort to run an 8 on the 8th stress test. We've been dedicating a lot of time and energy to the NOVA Open this year, and are excited to be providing both an excellent prize pool, and what should be a very fun event. For anyone that wants to take a look, if you haven't yet, our Primer Mission Packet is available at novaopen.com in the 40k rules section, *OR* here .... novaopen.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Open-Primer-Missions.pdfThanks and hope to see some of ya'll come on down, - Mike Brandt, NOVA Open TO

Fantasy has a comp system for that tournament, but I didn't see mention of one for 40k..... no comp for this event?

There is actually NO comp system now for Fantasy - we've decided to aggressively digest and go with the rules for 8th edition, since it is purchaseable 5 weeks prior to the event and will be previewable 7-9 weeks prior. Just too much time for people to want to "retroactively" play comped 7th ed.
For 40k, we are not using comp - for rationales on why, there are a few articles linked in the Relevant Discussion tab on the main page that goes into detail discussing things.
Do you all use comp in your area for 40k? What kind of comp do you use ("forced" organizational/expenditure changes, or just "points" for how casual or not your army is)?

guys, this tournament is now full, at 64 people. MVBrandt said if he could get another 32 people waitlisted he'd expand it out to 96 slots. He already has over a dozen people on the waitlist. I forgot to register (dumb, I know)... so if you want to go, please register for the wait list.
you'd need to go to his site, novaopen.com, and make a donation of $0.00, to get your name onto the list, or just email him.

well... looks like some of you will have some issues if you want to attend this event...
@jer bear... "Armies must be painted to at least a basic, 3-color standard (please ask TO for details if you’re concerned)"
and as for garou... "All players must attend the event showered and wearing deodorant; respect your peers!"

It is indeed the case that I'm taking wait list sign ups ... and if we get up to 32, will open more spots.

Best to take my car, much more gas efficient I wager.
Also, we should get some Fantasy people up in this.
