Just a suggestion but maybe the NJ event will postpone if you get a date locked. Would not hurt to ask.
Jay I will be happy to help out where and when I can just let me know. I will however be playing in the event hehe.

I hope the tone of this thread continues to remain calm.
I do believe it has been productive to post here, and hopefully Timbo can contact Jay and get something going. I don't see a huge problem moving the date a week before or a week afterwards if that is what we need to do to secure Douglass Hall. I am sympathetic to the people who have taken vacation around the previously targeted date but if we have to move the date to get the space then so be it.
As for the price, my opinion is that $100 will exclude alot of gamers. I am well aware of the prize support and the cost of the event, remember I have helped in all the events so far and shelled out money out of my own pocket to to make the previous events a success, but if you listen to the few people posting here, they have indicated the price they are willing to pay. I honestly believe $50 to $60 should be our limit.
I still believe that we can keep the cost down if we stay away from hotels. How about looking into fire halls or VFW's ( like the one we played in at Boston)? While they are not quite as nice as U of R I am sure they would be on par with the cost. What do you think?

It this point I am still working with UofR. We might have a date selected. We are trying to stick to the original date discussed some time ago, but we Can't guarantee we can keep the date that was originally selected back in November of last year. We get huge benefits with going with the University of Rochester venue. Great location, fellow gamers to work with and you can’t beat the cost of the space. The only negative is the fact that you are dealing with such a large University you don’t get the responses back as fast as you would like. So the question is do you keep it at a great location and the same cost as last year and also try to work the schedule and keep the same prices as last year. Or change it to another location where we have a confirmed date but most likely the cost will increase based on the cost to rent the space. So I will keep you posted on the date and location. In the meantime check out the website. daboyzgt.wordpress.com/ James did a great job on it. Everything on the web site is official. Do not take information on the forms as being official. It is a discussion. edit gammer corrected.

I think you meant to say we CAN'T guarantee getting the date that someone posted in November. The U of R doesn't do scheduling for outside events for the next school year until late April or May so there was no way to have a Confirmed date last November. I am sorry that there was confusion and someone posted an incorrect date. There is nothing I can do about that at this point. As Jay stated we are still trying to work things out with the U of R but it is a slow process. Also as I said before Jay or I will post the date as soon as we have it confirmed.

Just a suggestion and I am certainly not trying to take anything away from the other stores that are helping with this event. By the time the tourney roles around we will have built our new play space out. There is also a very good chance that at that point the landlord will not have a tenant in the Millennium space. I am fairly certain that we would be able to use the space for that event for little to know money. I think that this space without fixtures and other things would be large enough to fit the kind of numbers you guys are looking at. We would be willing to buy some tables and rent some chairs to help make this work. You guys know where I am if you have any other questions. We will be out of this space and into the new space by July/August at the latest. Which only leaves the landlord around 60 days to get the space rented to a new tenant. You all know what this space looks like now. Let me know

My only concern might be parking, but I think there is room enough.

Wherever and whenever you're able to nail this down for, the only thing I ask is that you keep the costs down as much as possible and get a confirmed date and price sooner rather than later. Weekends are the hardest thing for me to schedule around. My job will be making the weekend schedule for October through the end of the year very soon (if they haven't already). Once it's made, I have to call in or get someone to switch to get a weekend off. Switching is next to impossible and calling in is not really an option for me either. I know you guys are working very hard on this, and appreciate it. I hope that the date and money will work out for me this year so I can attend. If there is anything I can do to help, be it set up or breakdown, transporting terrain, boards, etc or whatever, just let me know.

Well i wanna start by thanking everyone who is working so hard to organize this GT. Last year I was not informed of it in time to make the event, I live in Buffalo and theres not to big of a community aside from the jesters cap monthly tourny and what Hobbytown usa in amherst is trying to build up. I just attended the ard' boyz at millennium and found it a very good time!
since Im in buffalo theres not much I can do to help, I dont know who takes care of prize support but I can possibly talk to the owner of the jesters cap to see if he wants to contribute, just let me know. either way nomatter the location and as long as the price isnt too much more than what was proposed at the begining of the post I'll deffinitely be attending!!!
