Hello everyone,
I am coming in from out of town to the event, and I was wondering what are the best places to get food around campus. I have never been to Rochester so it would be nice to have some ideas of what is around before I go.
I know I could always do a google search.... but I think I rather hear from the people who actually live there on what is good and reasonably priced.
Thanks!

some of my favorites that arent that far away are dogtown (garbage plates and loads of specialty hotdogs) and aladdins (all natural eatery, pitas, salads, wraps, kebabs, etc.)
a little closer than that there is places like the distillery, peligrinos, subway, chipotle grill, and im pretty sure a bruegers and a starbucks for morning food... and of course your normal fast food like wendys and mc donalds is right on mt hope ave with those other places too

+1 on Aladdin's. Great, fresh greek/mediterranean menu and you can get a meal for $10.
Distillery is also good but it will be jammin on the weekend.

If you stick to Mt. Hope, South Ave, and Monroe, you'll find plenty of places to eat.
Some of my favorites are John's Tex Mex (huge burritos) and Beale Street (BBQ) on South Ave, Pellegrino's (subs) on Mt. Hope, and Dogtown (hot dogs), Aladdin's (Mediterranean), and Plum House (Sushi) on Monroe.
For breakfast, the Mount Hope Diner (across from Wendy's) is dirt cheap.

I'd love me some garbage plate. What time do they close these days? I thought I heard something about limiting their hours, but don't know much more than that.

btw, It'll be cool to meet you stillfrosty. Whenever I google the GT, you're one of the first hits. I'd love to see more stuff in the artwork department of the site.

Looks like the city location closes at 8, Henrietta closes at midnight. It's the original, but there's a lot of places to get garbage plates.

Thats cool, I am going to have to check that out. I am working on getting some more art work but my artists are always busy sadly. Thank you for the suggestions about food, but how about some good pizza joints? I wouldn't mind getting a deep dish in new york!

Wrong part of New York mate. Rochester is all about the garbage plates.

Well I am sure I do not want garbage plates three nights in a row!
I'm sure there has to be a decent pizza place around.

If you are really itching for deep dish, there is an Uno's in Henrietta not too far away from campus on Hylan Drive. But I agree with many of the other guys here, if you come to Rochester, you must try a plate!
