To all the guys in the club thanks for running a nice event. I had a great time, made a couple bucks and got to talk with some people that I don't see very often.
The set-up was done very well. Everything looked professional and was very nicely spaced out even for our gamer sizing. Thanks to everyone that helped cart in my stuff and helped me load. It made running the booth solo possible. Thanks also to the people that covered my booth so I could go to the bathroom.
It's hard work to put together an event that size and pull it off like you guys did. The job is thankless and tiring and makes for some harsh feelings towards the end of an event.
There are not many places in the country that could put something like this together and pull it off. You guys did and I am thankful that you helped put keep us on the map.
All niceties aside from here forward.
Next year you guys can run whatever event you want. Whatever you decide is going to be right. If you wanna give prize support to the 26th best player, go ahead. It doesn't matter.
Also keep in mind the people that post on forums and female dog the loudest are usually not your target audience anyways. Please don't conform to the whiners. You only give them strength. It's your tournament. Make a tournament that you wanna play.
Also keep in mind the person that wrote the post on BOLS didn't have proper models and spent the last 18 minutes running down his opponent and female doging that he didn't move his turn along fast enough to get another one in. Is that really the guy that you should care about what they think of your tourney. Is he the player you want to cater too. His list featured only the best of in triplicate. So you got a guy that is running down his opponent, not playing with the correct models, and playing an 'Ard Boyz list in an obviously comped tourney. Then to top it off he posts on a well known forum about how the tourney was nuts, in his opinion. Is this the guy you want to appease? Seriously it's sour grapes on his part. If he had won the event, he would sings its praises. He had nice pics too. The missing one of course, was his own army. Why? Well it hollows his argument. If you have the balls to complain about someones system come clean. Just say that you ignored 2/3 of the tourneys rules. Of course you didn't win, you didn't follow the instructions.
Something to keep in mind. What would have happened in this event, if you had none of the player's that complained about your system? Would the tourney not have been successful? Wouldn't it have been much more fun for you as a player or an event organizer? People are gonna complain no matter what. The complaints about next years event are already rolling in. That's ridiculous right. People that didn't attend the event have an opinion on the event. That's just funny to me.
Make an event that best represents you, as a club. If people don't like your style, who cares? They don't need to come. I promise they will anyways. If they don't, who cares. This event is for you and your player's not the rest of the country.
Our local players have won many events nationally. We don't need justification for anything here. Don't be concerned with 20 guys from around the country that you see twice a year saying your tourney isn't good. Worry about the local players and what they would like to play.
My only suggestion is to talk with the people that play that aren't posting. They usually have more useful things to say. I have found often times the most out spoken tend to have the minority opinion. If everyone felt the way they did, they wouldn't have to yell about it.
Thanks again for taking the time to put together a nice event. It was a pleasure vending. Let me know if you need any help for next year.
