So I talked with Travis about doing an apocalypse event at the next lock in at millennium. thats right - all your super heavies, flyers, data sheets, formations, and hordes of infantry in an all night show down of epic proportions...
In order for this event to happen we need some feedback though, most important being: how many people would be interested in playing, and how many people you would like to see playing on a single table, and with how many points. as most people know, games involving massive armies led by 2 or more people on each side can get to be kind of a clusterf**k, so we may want to limit the number of points and//or players per table.
entry for the event will include pizza and snacks and what ever other goodies travis decides to throw in, and everything left over will be used for prize support. the lock in is scheduled for dec. 18th, and so far we have ideas for how prizes will be awarded, such as most units killed, coolest looking force, 'smoking boots', etc... aside from that though, a little feed back on who would be interested in playing and how you would like to see the event go down would be appreciated...

I would love to attend; however, there is a 50/50 chance that I will be out of state that weekend visiting relatives.
I would suggest based on my past experience with apoc games, no more than 6 people per table. I've had the most enjoyment with either 2 or 3 people per team. More people tends to confuse things and drag each turn on forever.
I would also suggest ground rules for who pushes / plays what models. I've seen a few heated arguments when team mates tried to keep things rolling by pulling casualties or pushing forces not on their own force org chart.
Other than that, how do the lock ins usually work at Millenium?

Team Chaos had a single army/force org and 3 players at the Daboyz GT Apocalypse game. It DID seem to move things along and, since our opponents knew ahead of time, it didn't cause any problems. In fact, I think they kind of appreciated the way that it moved things along.
I like the sound of this kind of event but unfortunately it falls on a weekend that I can't make it.

We hold lock-ins the third Saturday of every month. They were originally set-up for the Cybestorm clients. They start at 10pm and run until 8am. Cost for lock-ins is 24 which includes computer gaming for the whole time as well as food and entry to any of the computer run to tourneys.
Since we have combined spaces, every month I try to come up with an event for my people. It usually bounces back and forth between 40k and Magic every month. We have had the most success doing this based on numbers.
For the Apocalypse game I will be charging 20 per player. You will get food and prizes for your entry. If you want to use the computers as well it will only cost you an additional 4 dollars.
Money collected from player's will be turned into prize support. If you haven't attended one of our events before, player's here can vouch that we pay out very well for our events.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Prize support for the lock ins is top notch. I was middle of the pack last time and went home with a nice terrain boxed set.

That is a model you have to work out with him... Its a very frail model that I want no part in being responsible for. Also what is the deal for painted or not organizers?
