Due to an enormous increase in this game we have decided to dedicate a night to Malifaux. Monday nights from 5 or 6 until I feel like going home (Seriously, my day off is Tuesday), we will be doing all things Malifaux.
None of us have many games in. Most are just getting our crews built and learning the rules. So there will probably be some painting, some modeling and so not-so-witty banter.
If you curious about the game and wanted to give it a try, I own all the models. If you just want to hang out that's fine too. Please come down and check it out. The starter cost between 35 and 45, the rules cost 35 so you in the game for under a hundred bucks after paint and glue.

First Monday for this. Show up if you guys can. I will be there after Smitty and I hit the gym. Even if you just come down to paint and put stuff together that would be cool.

The more I read about this game the more appealing it sounds. What factions are people playing with? From what I've seen the Guild and Ressurectionists look the most appealing (although that evil teddy bear looks cool). I'd like to get in either this Monday or next Monday to see a sample of the game. What time do you normally start playing?

Well some people have been getting there early but Travis and I don't get back to the store till 6-630. (not that you have to wait for us) I dont remember the name of the band but I can show you who has what so far.. I picked my crews purely on looks. I'll be up there for a little bit tonight but I can't stay as late as I did last week. The nice thing is a crew are only 5-10 models so easy to paint.

As it stands now, the Lady Justice crew, the Witchhunter's crew and the Red Chappelles (spelling?) crew look like my top three choices. Like you, I am basing them off of looks of the minis right now. From what I can gather from reading the Wyrd forums, the Lady Justice crew is one of the more well rounded crews for beginners.
I doubt I can make it today but I plan on picking up either the Lady J starter box or the Red Chappelles box this week. Does the store have either of them in stock right now?
Travis mentioned that a stripped down core rule book was coming soon. Any ETA on when that is happening or, since I am a fluff nut, should I get the current rulebook?
Thanks for any feedback.

As of Friday we had a lady justice. The core rule book I believe is coming out in February or early March.

OK, I'm intrigued. I've done some reading online about this and it looks interesting. The problem is that Mondays are generally no good for me. At this point, I think I'm just going to find a time to come in and read through the rule book, but after that, I'll probably want a chance to try this out.
I like the Viktoria models quite a bit.

When I was talking with Travis this past weekend he said that some people also play on Tuesdays as well. So if Monday's don't work we can always try to schedule games on a Tuesday.
I'm going to try and swing by tomorrow and pick up a starter box after work but I can't stay long enough to get a game of 40k in. Next week I should be able to get in for Malifaux.
Does anyone in the group play the Colette crew? If so, what is that crew like?

ya gabe most of the people who play also play 40k (and by most i think all) so people have playing on saturdays and tuesdays as well
as far as colette goes, i think only one person has bought that crew so far from what i know, they are on par with the likes of pandora or leveticus in the way that they are a little more complicated to use, but can be very deadly once you get a handle on how they work they rely heavy on maneuverability and casting, with cassandra being the main counter-melee model

I just picked up the Justice Crew and the rule book during my lunch break and I can't wait to get started on painting them up and reading the rules tonight. By this weekend I should know if I'll be able to make it on either Monday or Tuesday for a game.

OK...So I've mostly read the rulebook, and I even got to observe a game. I'm sure there are details I'm not up on, but I think I'm ready for some practice of my own. So, is there anyone who would be willing to spot me a crew and play me this coming tuesday. Like I said before, mondays are no good for me most of the time.
My preference would be a Viktoria crew, or an ortega crew, but I pretty much just want a chance to play to make sure I like it before sinking funds into it.
Bueller?

It looks like Tuesday will be my day as well. I will bring my Lady J crew and my 40k army in case anyone wants to get in a game for one or the other.
My only gripe about the Malifaux rules so far is the way the book is laid out. I guess I'm conditioned by GW by having all of the rules in one section and the fluff in the other... Other than that it looks like a fun game.
