I know several folks were talking about going, and saw Joe's painting mentioned on dakka.
How did the Rochester dudes do?
How was the event as a whole?

The Rochester crew cleaned house. Moyer & Norton took the fantasy side, Kemp was in the top 3 in 40K, and Joe took best painting. I think Jay took home the most prizes (by winning the raffle a couple of times ). Joe, Jay & Sean were all in the top 10. My feelings of the event are split. On one hand, the players made the event for me. I had a couple of fantastic games with great guys. I really makes me wish I could get out and play more often, and to step up my painting/converting. On the other, I think there were plenty of flaws in the organization. Comp ended up being really weird, and even when it was switched to battle, things were screwy. I'd say not a bad event, but if it was run the same next year I'll be saving my money.

Chris is correct the event had good and bad things like every event has.
I did win the most prizes. That was great!!
Here are the things I really like:
Painting
Open format on the painting scores. So he did a rubric and handed out the rubric to each of the players. I would like to do this for the DaBoyz GT. I think this takes a lot of balls to do, but I love the idea.
Location: It was in the located in the mall. It was close to all kinds of food and drinks.
The people: I agree with Chris the people at the event really made it for me. The first person I played was the best person I played all weekend.
Overall I think Aaron (TO) ran a great event

It was a good event but there were some really wonky things going on with match ups. Round 3 saw an undefeated army playing an army with no wins. I was 1-1 and played a 0-2 army so the match ups were just wrong and I think this really changed the outcome of the tourny. There were other examples of mismatches too so I wonder if it was just overlord screwing up?
BTW I only saw one or two armies that were minimal paint. Most of the armies actually looked pretty good!!
