I finished my Lady Justice model tonight and I was pretty happy with how it turned out. The Malifaux minis look great and I am getting ready to start on the Judge. ****** Updated on 2/21 ******** Finished with the rest of the Justice Crew tonight. Death Marshal 1 Death Marshal 2 Death Marshal 3 The Judge The Justice Crew I apologize for the poor lighting. I'll have them at Millennium on Tuesday if anyone wants to see them. Next... the Guild Guard and the Governor's Proxy. As always, any feedback or suggestions are appreciated. - Kevin

Those look great. The only thing I might do is shade the white a little with some diluted shadow grey. It would pick out the folds in her clothing (and it gives it a bit of a bluish tint which makes the white feel a bit 'colder' as well).
I really like the Word Bearers freehand, without seeing more than one it is hard to comment on consistency, but a little variation probably isn't bad given the style it is done in. The only thing I might do is try to straighten the chaplain's weapon, it looks a bit bent to me...

Thanks for the feedback. I'll be bringing my Word Bearers to MG tonight but I will be playing Mailfaux. As for the grey shadowing, I was considering that myself but I was worried that I would screw it up after doing umpteen layers of white. If you're at MG tonight come over and you can see the model up close.

Wish I had seen this earlier, I saw you guys playing Mali but I was wandering around the 40k area. I definitely understand your hesitance, if you haven't done this before (washing the white that is) then definitely do not try for the first time on that model!

I love the purple flames, nice job blending and highlighting them coming out of the casket.
Could you describe how you got the wood to look so natural? I am thinking snakebite leather and Devlan Mud? Maybe some watered down Scorched Brown?

Prof, the wood planking is primarily done with Scorched Brown, Bubonic Brown and Rotting flesh. There is also washes of Delvan Mud and Badab black.
First I painted the caskets in 100% Scorched Brown. Then I added a little Bubonic Brown and with a fine brush, painted in long thin lines to imply the wood grain. Then I washed the caskets twice in Badab Black so that it sinks into the crevices.
Next I created a mixture of Scorched Brown, Bubonic Brown and a touch of Rotting flesh and went over the initial lines and edges to make it pop. Then I go with a 50/50 Bubonic Brown and Rotting Flesh to finalize the edges. I set that final mixture aside and do 2 washes of the Delvan mud to stain the wood. When that dried I went over the edges and hightlight areas with the bubonic/rotting flesh mixture.
It sounds like a lot of work but actually only took 1 night to do all three.

Thanks for sharing, I will have to write that down and give it a try. I want to do some wood floor planking for my Slaanesh army (to suggest they are standing on a stage).
