Once again the U of R gaming convention SIMCON www.simcon.org/ will be hosting the Rochester Games Workshop Championship. We will once more this year have a 1500pt 40k Team tournament on Saturday starting at 10am. On Sunday we will have a 2400pt Fantasy tournament. One price gets you into both tournaments and I think that is only $15. The good part is that any player who plays in both is eligible for the grand prize of the Rochester Games Workshop Championship. There will be atleast prizes for the top 5 combined scores. This is an event not to be missed. Boldo

Awesome, that was a ton of fun last year. Are you planning on using the same rules as last year for the 40K side of things?

I had a great time last year and plan on going again this year but I'll leave my Tau home this time.

On the Simcon website, it says that the 40K tourney is on Sunday and the Fantasy one is on Saturday, and lists different points levels than above. Which one is correct?

I wasn't there last year. Any soft scores? If so which ones (Painting, sports, comp) and how much are they worth?

Rules questions: You said that we're using the championship rules from adepticon but that doesn't have any rulings on team stuff (like abilities affecting allied armies) these are however specified in the team tournament set of rules for adepticon. Do you want us to refer to these to answer those questions or somewhere else? *edit* the adepticon thing is mentioned in the simcon event posting not here. LINK: www.simcon.org/eventview.php?id=57

So who plans on attending the 40k team event and/or the Fantasy event?
I'll be running my Word Bearers on Saturday and Orcs & Goblins on Sunday.
I'll try to remember to bring my camera to get some pics of the event.

Big thanks to Shaun for running the 40K tourney. Even though Mick and I didn't get any wins, we still had a great time.

Just got back from the Fantasy event today and had fun on both days. Got to say that after a few games with the new Orc and Goblins book I am really looking to get more fantasy games in. Thanks to Alex, Shaun and Norton for running the event. I took some pics of the games on both days and I'll try to get them up either tonight or tomorrow.

Here are some images from the 40k Team event on Saturday. Gabe and I teamed up for this event. Gabe ran his Crusader Hawks chapter with Shrike and I ran my Word Bearers Our first opponents were Dan and Carter, both playing vanilla SM chapters. Our Deployment. Game 2 was against Tau/Guard. While initially, the prospect of three hammerheads, Crisis suit weapons, melta squads and the LasCannons on the Vendettas was somewhat concerning, the first two turns they could never achieve more than shaken and stunned results on our vehicles. By turn three we were amongst their lines and you can guess the rest... Our third game was against 2 guard players. With the amount of guns facing us I was thinking we were screwed but... Their setup Our Setup Here is where on turn 1 Shrike and his squad infiltrated and assualted their front line. Resulting in Gabe taking out three vehicles in the first turn They spent the rest of the game trying to take out Shrike who would simply not die. Gabe pretty much won that game on his own. Here are some pics of the other games going on. Tim's Dark Eldar and Mick's Orks vs bugs and chaos. We never got paired up against either of these teams. I was curious in what the nids and csm players were running. View of the bugs and chaos army. Sunday was the Fantasy event. I brought my Orcs and Goblins and running the new book which I just picked up earlier that week. I came out with 2 draws and 1 loss. Much better than I had anticipated. My Orcs Vs Greg's Warriors of Chaos My second game was against Dan's Dwarfs, which utterly owned me. My last game was against Gabe's goblin army. (sorry no images) While it resulted in a draw, if we had remembered some of the new rules Gabe should have broken my Night Goblin hoard much earlier and the result would have been more to his favor. Overall a fun two days.

Thanks for posting up the pictures. As for the Nid and CSM lists, they were something like this:
Nids
Tyrant + Tyrant Guard + Prime, all w/ lash whips and boneswords Tervigon Some gaunts 2 Venomthropes Trygon Carnifex 3 Zoanthropes
CSM
Kharn 3 Berzerker squads in Rhinos 3x Defiler
You guys seemed to have much better luck against the Guard and Tau teams. We were in their lines turn two in both cases, but couldn't get the job done.
