Why your Chaos Army is not fluffy enough

Got into a discussion on another board about why chaos are always getting bashed on for not being 'fluffy' and this is the most intelligent thing that someone said in the conversation......

(didnt use quote tags cuz it made it small and hard to read)

the biggest reason you are expected to be 'fluffy' is because Games Workshop has made the Chaos Marines different from the Human Marines by giving them 1 codex instead of 5.

Think of how dumb an army would be if it looked like this
2x Lone Wolfs
Mephiston w/ Bodyguard
Dreadknight with Psycannon and Daemon Hammer
5x Ravenwing Land Speeders
3 squads of Tactical Marines with Missle, Plasma, Sergeant w/Combi-Melta and Power Fist

But then look at a Chaos list....
2x Obliterators
Abaddon w/ Bodyguard
Greater Daemon with Whip
9 Khorne Berzerkers
3 squads of Plague Marines with Missle, Plasma

Its the same list, but you never see list 1 because they have a different codex for each of those armies. If there was a World Eaters Codex, and then an Alpha Legion Codex, and then a Thousand Suns Codex, this wouldn't be a problem.

i agree with that example

chaos players have to use what there given, a single codex encompassing multiple factions with a unit or two from a faction is bound to looked mashed and unfluffy, if they are to be able to completely theme and even have much chance, they each need a codex, like marines.

im not saying i think the codex is weak, im just saying that you cant complain about theme/fluff while this is the case

I sold my chaos army just before the latest codex came out. It's been a while but I did read through the new codex.

How is it that you would be 'expected' to be fluffy when you have only 1 codex?

I don't get it.
