Hello everyone,
I am getting back into Warhammer after a hiatus for college work. I had models back during the 7th edition for both VC and WoC, but the VC army is more developed (1 wight king, 1 necro on horse, 2 necro on foot, 1 vampire, (1 tomb king i can convert to vampire), 20 zombies, 40 skellies, 2 spirit hosts, black coach, 5-10 black knights, and 10 dire wolves vs. Chaos: a mage (foot) and a champion/lord(foot) , about 24 chaos warriors, 23 marauders, 10 hounds, and 10 knights of chaos). I love both armies (the lore of the vampires a little more), but the prolem is, with the new 8th edition, vamps are kind of at a disadvantage from what I can see. Either way, I'm going to need to spend money, and I decided that I need to stick with only one army from now on. I would love to hear people's opinions on the matter. Lastly, I would play as a Necrarch army for VC and a Tzeentch army for chaos (I love magic <3 ).

I'm not sure how long ago you played, exactly. It would be worth a look at the new rules and army books. Both armies have undergone substantial changes from their last book. Your reference to playing a Necrarch got my attention.
The Vamp bloodlines are kinda-sorta still there but the characters need to be built like Necrarchs, rather than just being Necrachs. Everything is dictated by the bloodline powers you pay for rather than being a generic necrarch. The bloodline powers are a little diffferent but they are open, so you can build a fairly killy and casty vampire. Overall, the vamps have taken a hit since 8th. They can still be competitive but require some precise builds to be top tier.
The Warriors are different too, but they have the same feel as before. The WoC are a very competitive list and Tzeentch is a good army, though you can now mix marks in each army and the old fluff about the animosity between chaos gods has been dumbed down. The Tzeentch lore is still fairly competitive.
You could probably fill out your vamps faster than your warriors. Your WoC do have more points in core selections.
In the end, it's what you want out of the list. If you have been out for a while and need to get used to the new edition (it's a big change) I strongly suggest WoC. They are more forgiving and can be adjusted more freely.
