It looks like GW may be returning to the old days of RT style events. Here is a quote from Mike at showcase comics in PA:
"Not really a surprise at this point, since I was having no luck trying to get info on the yearly tournament series for the last 3 months, and if you can't find out who's in charge of something at GW, then no one is, and it's not being taken seriously. But did get official word that they cancelled it, so at least they gave us that bit of info.
Ed Spettigue and Chris Woodward are gone. Bit of a different era coming up. I think they put a lot of things on the chopping block, and the longer we don't hear about them, the more likely they are just not being supported. "
Looks like that monthly tourney just opened up hehe.

In honor of 'ardboyz, we should make that monthly tournament a 3000 point apocalypse tournament (with some slight rules modifications of course).
It was always about 'ard lists duking it out. Upgrade it to apocalypse, and call it a day!

I would love to play in an Apocolypse tournament. I would limit it to one datasheet/formation per player though.

Eh, I was thinking more along the lines of limiting what strategic assets you can use on certain units. For example, no flank marching a squadron of baneblades!
3000 points is probably already restricting the formations you can use, because I can't think of too many of them that are small enough to allow abuse (though I could be wrong!)
But yea, an apocalypse instead of 'ardboyz would switch it up and be pretty fun I think.

If 6th ed is out by then, 3000pt games with a new ruleset may be a little ambitious. I'd throw my vote towards a "welcome to 6th ed" event. Maybe 4 smallers games at 1250 or so.

I only have a about 5 mins for a quick post, we'll prob keep the ard boyz event for the tourney, a apoc tourney is a awful Idea for a few reason, 1 is time, your looking at about 3 hours around, yes nuts dies faster, your still almost doubling up the points, secondly, certain army's have HUGE advantages in apoc, Like eldar and a guard and also the people with a big checkbook A.k.a. the Kemp effect. Thrid, and prob the biggest issues is rules.
Do i like the idea? Yeah. Do I see happened, VERY VERY slim

I like Aarons idea if you decide to get away from the Aard boyz style event. If rumor holds true 6th will be released early July and we all know we will have a leak before that hehe.
