Because of a ton of events in October I thought of moving the event to the first two weekends of November.
November 3rd and 4th
Or
November 10th and 11th
any concerns?

Which events in October are you trying to avoid?

It looks like Mechanicon & the Warstore weekend are both the weekend of Oct 20th.
Battle for Salvation is Oct 7-8.
The 11th Company did theirs early November last year, and after talking to Pat, with the hotel and space rental prices so low for them, they'll do it again around the same time.
Isn't there a con that takes place around that time too that has a GT in it?

Thanks Chris. you are correct.
We have Battle of Salvation October 8 and 9
Feast of Blades (not so much concern with is one) is 21 and 22
MechaniCon the weekend of the 27th.
I was originally going with the 27, but MechaniCon moved there date up.
I have no problem with our event being in November.
It looks it is going to be a the UofR again this year.

Hi Jay
The Canucks are looking forward to another fantastic event.
Why not the Armoury? I like UofR, but being able to play with a beer in hand gives the armoury a slight edge or the readily available decent food and better lighting of UofR.
Are you likely to have the Team event again?
Cheers, Nate

Like we talked about last night Jay I would say do the first weekend in November. The later we wait into November the more we risk people not coming because they will be traveling in a weeks time due to Thanksgiving, better to space out travel than have it all done in the space of a few weeks.
@nate - while we did love having it at the Armory and the gamers having a beer in hand the price difference between the two venues is very substantial. By going with the U of R we can spend a WHOLE lot more money on prize support than we did last year and ultimately that's our goal. I'd love to send everyone home with something!

I thought the problem with UofR was the lack of a guaranteed set date so far out?

Hi Crimthaan
Cost of venue is a sound reason for a return. Warmasters (my event in Canada) scaled back its Warhammer Fantasy venue to our orginial location due to a general decline in interest since 8th was released (we still did well with 68 doubles players and 52 singles).
When the cost differential breaks a thousand dollars, you need a fair number of additional players just to cover tha without adding anything to the prize support package.
Cheers, Nate

I generally preferred immediate access to beer and food, however I understand the need for cost control. I am always 95% sure of attending, regardless.
The Necrons are coming to get you all!!!

im more worried about space. the armoury was the BEST large tourney spot EVER because each table was seperate. 2 problems i had with UofR 1) I broke part of my display board because i had to put it under table each game and kept kicking it. 2) there was no where to put armies for painting scores. mine ended up by the windows.placement of army DOES affect voting from other players. almost every opponent mentioned they loved my army, but didnt see it during voting.
If both problems are addressed, I am totally for UofR then. just want to see dates/basic rules at some point soon, so I can start working on lists/find out how screwed/illegal my army for this season (deathwing)
That being said, Beef and Wing will be there in force.

I think the date is fine, but the space may need more considering.
I personally wasn't taken with the armory, and liked UoR quite a bit. While I like UoR, I think the Fantasy side will grow this year and UoR doesn't have that much extra space for extra tables.

I would agree that having the tourney as early in November as possible will help maximize turn out.
Although playing with a beer in hand was nice, more prize prize support is better. Especially since the area has plenty of great restaraunts for drinkin' after the playin' is over.
I've never been to the U of R, but space is always a concern. I liked having enough room to put my tray/dice/codex ect. at the end of a table.
