Having stripped and repainted my Marines twice, I would suggest making sure you don't have an open garbage disposal as you are scrubbing. Sometimes the glue goes along with the paint and/or the scrubbing makes it go as well. I had to reassemble quite a few models after stripping them.
I also used a push-pin instead of a toothpick to get crevases.
Another word of advice, don't do too much at the same time. I was bent over the sink scubbing so long that I was in pain when I straightened up
