If these are the "Cons" for going to our events, I would like to reply to them. The concerns that have been mentioned by multiple people are valid, and I feel these are some constructive ways that we can alleviate the issues.
- If you are not a fan of how the terrain is set up, or wish to do something more off the wall instead of the "Stock" designs, we do setup from 9am to 9:30am for our events. Everyone can feel free to come in a bit early and either help the Tournament Organizer set up, or ask them if terrain can be mixed up. As long as you do so before 9:30 there should not be a problem with it. I'm sure that "offering to help" will be received well. Also we appreciate people bringing in board or terrain pieces, even if it is just for the day. Lastly anyone who wishes to build, donate, or fix the terrain at the store can contact me at Mike@millenniumgames.com and we can work something out either with a paint and build day or something more personal
- The only way to change the "same old army" problem is to bring your own army that is not the same old and play it well. Of course there will always be players who play the perceived "best" army. They are hard to change, and it is their right to play what they want. There are also many players who only can afford 1-2 armies (like myself). They should not be punished for not having money and playing the same 2 armies all the time. It can be easy to forget how expensive entry into a new army can be when you already have 5+ armies. Remember that only when someone decides to be original and does well, do others take notice. Because some people cannot afford different armies, having a penalty for bringing the status quo just is not efficient. Maybe during the summer we can run something like a tournament where each army gets a multiplier bonus based on their perceived power level, designed to diversify things, but that would have to be discussed at length at a later date.
- I will talk to the Tournament Organizer about posting Results and Scoring on a consistent basis. I am the events coordinator, so that is my responsibility to make sure events are run well and players have fun and want to return. Since this sounds like an issue, I will make sure going forward that I post the full results on the forums each month, probably on the Monday after the event. Even if the results are not posted/printed at the end of the event, players should be able to ask the Tournament Organizer to see the final standings at the end of the event.
- I dont know what chipmunking means, so I can't answer that. If it means stuffing miniatures in your mouth and hiding them in your cheeks so the judges don't see them while scoring your composition, that seems like it would ruin the paint job
