What does having comp or not having comp have anything to do with telling people how to play their armies??
You could still in include comp in your tourneys...those who don't like it will play what they want anyway and those who do will play to the spirit of the game.
I go to adepticon, I know there's no comp, I know what lists are gonna show up, but I bring a compy list anyway cause that's how I play. I have been to a ton of tournies without comp, but it doesn't change how I play. Maybe im just old school....
I still show up (when work permits) to millinenium tournies, even though I know its ard boyz all the time but that doesn't change the way I play.
Im just tryin to tell you guys that having comp in a tourney doesn't(or shouldn't) dictate their playstyle. You play how u play that's it.

We do run army comp at certain events in our group. Just not all the time. And when I made mention about telling people what they can & can't play is referring to a few of the comp systems we've run into. For one example, is the comp rubric where if you score below a certain amount of points, you can't bring that list. Thus, telling people what they can & can't play.
But for the rest of our events without comp, we want players to bring whatever list they want. Fluffy, competitive, spam, etc... Whatever they like. But that's just our group, we're not trying to push that onto any other group.

Hate to revive any more arguing, but Doug has some merit, watching the guy that won last years adepticon with grey knights that he admitted weren't his was upsetting because in mine, and a lot of our minds this game should be more about the overall hobby than winning games. Now, that aside, think about how a non comp environment balances the field out..yes there are silly net lists and Doug's right, I hate play the triple heldrake list, it blows ass, but playing against it has taught me how to beat it. The game if its merely about the battles still comes down to generalship and dice rolls the so called unbeatable 18 wraiths 6 night scythes list, heh played it so many d**n times it just doesn't shells hock you anymore. Every list in the game is beatable, and mind you I've proven it on several occasions, guys down here have adapted and we've seperated tournament lists from our campaign or 1 off game lists, tell me how broken the game is when I too 3 2 tournaments In a row with 30 deathwing terminators? Going against "unbeatable" crons, "unbeatable" guard, "unbeatable" tau... There always a stronger book, learn to play against it. Idk maybe I just don't care as much anymore watching 20 something yr olds come home in boxes I came to realize its a f**king game and i got too much nuts to worry about to care how the tournament scene is, do I like comp yes, but it's fails more with the current generation of gamers than non comp does, I like nova, 11th co, daboyz, adepticon, etc, nerd rage spectacles. I like the test of skill, and rolling dice, and the tournament scene is changing as 6th changes, I do not think flyers break the game because there are more answers book by book. The game is balancing itself out, and we need to remember the flyers from 5th are cheaper because they were priced as skimmers, thus having a lower life expectancy on the table, so yes naturally they're undercosted this edition. I'm glad chaos has the heldrake because the rest of their book is nuts minus obliterators. I love necron players massing flyers because its a crutch and they don't know what to do when you counter them. And he'll I love tau because well I play the ; and well, my orks needed something new to punch.

I agree, yes we mainly do non-comp events. But even when people do bring those so called "unbeatable" lists, once you get past the gimmick, they're not an issue to face. And since razor spam went down hill with 6th edition, we really don't have issues with people's hardcore lists.
