Here are some pics from Saturdays Megabattle. There was almost no room for people to move around because of how packed the store was with gamers.

Great shots. You know the Brits just don't get it, closing a store that serves the gaming community and makes a profit, it's still hard for me to swallow. Well what would you expect, I seem to recall they didn't get it either a couple of hundred years back when we kicked there ass out of the country, f-ing Brits!!!!

I thought GW USA was in control of US stores... or where you expecting Brits to come over and spend their money in the store? Oh well - if the yanks can't run a business I guess the Brits will have to shut it down. Today the GW store, tomorrow the DHLS, next week the White House! Jason D (one of thsoe f-ing Brits)

Jason, no offense intended. I have met you at Toronto for the past few years and hung out with you, enjoying your company. This decision was dictated by GW corporate Worldwide. Store 130 was actually profitable (believe it or not) but the trend worldwide, not just in the state that has been dictated by the company CEO of GW WORLDWIDE is to pull back out of smaller markets. It is odd since western NY no longer will have a local GW store. At the recent Chicago GT both the first and second place 40K players are from this area. GW can continue to blame its woes ones on sagging LOTR sales, etc but the real reasons they are in the shape they are in is due to bad business decisions like this one here, as well as an arrogant business philosohy that the sun rises and fallls on GW, which is anything but the case. Love the game, hate the corporation. You can think I am talking out my ass, it's your perogative, but I have been following these events with interest lately since I am concerned with the hobby I so love and waste far too much time and money in. I have read the recent speech given by the GW CEO and feel my comments are based on fact not just conjecture or opinion.
Don't take the Brit thing personally, my friend.
And if you are interested in the White House, I am sure we can work a deal, hell take the whole city for a box of terminators if I have anything to say about it. Nothing good has come out of there since around the time you Brits tried to burn it down! ;D

thats not true doug things have come out of washington that were good.
When the first bush left that was good when Reagan left that was good when Carter left that was good When this bush leaves that will be good.
However i would like to up the price about 30000% on selling Washington.
I say they buy us a full tank of gas for our car.
back on message Good to see TJ could still pack them in. Wish he had the capitol to just re open the store under a diffrent name.

Hey Guys.. Holy sh1t - and I thought the point of GW USA being independent was that... err... independant... thingy...yep, that! After the debacle at Conflict Vancouver this weekend (view the WCP forum for all the 100 odd posts about it) little about that BS company shocks me anymore. I'm pretty much done with tournament gaming (as run by GW) - I'll play in the GT in May, as I've earned the frakking right to do so. After that, I'm helping with the non-GW tourneys around here. We have 2-4 in the works for next year. All the ones we have run in the past have exceeded Conflicts in attendance (single system) and we hope to continue to "break" GW until they realize that sitting with their head's up their arses won't improve the gaming environment... ... steps of soap box and wipes lather off viewing public... The only saving grace may be the return of the Seattle GT- and they better do it right. Cheers guys!

back on message Good to see TJ could still pack them in. Wish he had the capitol to just re open the store under a diffrent name. I get the impression, from the last Annual Report and the synopsis of it, that GW Global wants to step away from relying on Independent Retailers... Oh the contradiction!

So apparently HYPTG is going to be taking over the GW space in the mall for the X-mas season starting in September and will still be running games out of it.
