Something interesting occurred yesterday in my game with Kevin and I wanted to get everyone's take on it...
I use my vindicator, range 24" to fire at a squad of jump marines. I targeted the front most model, measured range (which was just inside 24") amd rolled my scatter. I scattered backward further away which is OK according to the BBB, ordinance still hits if you get a scatter out of range as long as the targeting model was in range and line of sight, which it was. Next I rolled for casualties which I scored three. The question is where does Kevin remove his models, anywhere in the squad or "within range" of the weapon?
A further question involved flamer templetes. Since the range of the weapon is the arc which the flamer can hit, why don't we generally remove models under the templete. Sometimes we take models out of the squad outside the weapon's range. Have we done this wrong?
OK, guys, dig out the rule books and educate me!!!!

Well in BBB it does say to remove casualties from a template (ie flamer) from under the template. The ordanence template says you may remove from anyplace in the unit.

that's the way I have seen it done. You just have to keep in mind that ordanace templates have their own rules and do not follow normal 'template weapon' rules.

Just keep in mind when you say "Template" it only refers to the flamer template. The other 2 are blast markers. One small and one large.

Thanks for clearing that up. It appears that we played it the right way, it really wasn't a game deciding thing however I was curious as to how the rules should really work. Thanks.

Wait wait, I think what you do is after it scatters you roll twice for wounding then if it explodes your foll thrice to see if it wounds those within 3d6 range and take the highest. ;D

No but there is a ME!! Do you think it would have been wise for 10 orks to stand in the open and die just because you wanted to shoot the nearest unit and not another unit that I couldnt assualt. I know who went undefeated after that mess up first round and who didnt. ;D

Well I severly dislike getting hosed for reasons undetermined by myself and not having any influence over it whatsoever. It was aggrivating to lose to them because time was called after the second round. We were not given the appropiate time slot needed to finish a battle of that magnitude. I know we could have won that battle even when they had thier stuff way in the corner. On a cool not the last game my Battle wagon penned a dreadnought with strength 20!! hehehehe ;D

I agree Ron, I still had fun and now I have something to compare a good and fair game to. I agree we could have won given enough time. Like I told you afterwards I like having hidden secondary missions but I think the main mission needs to be common for both teams. Just my opinion...
