Even if your opponent knows you have a lictor doesnt make any less in its worth. If your opponent spends his first turn moving into terrain to prevent your lictor from DSing into it then your lictor has already paid for itself. One, those units will not be firing heavy wepaons at you or at all. Two, The enemy is now closer to you which is always good for bugs. And even if he manages to keep you out of the terrain near him doesnt nessarily mean it dies. There is more likely more terrain some where else on the table for it to come down in. The reserves rule that the lictor has is invaluable in an Escalation and well worth its points. Hormaguants...well pesonally I dont see why Nid players dont take 3 huge squads of these...32 to a squad, cheap, fast, decent in HTH, tons of attacks, extended attack zone, whats not to like for a Nid player? Pretty much garunteed to get into combat on turn 2 regardless whom you play. Playing them in small numbers is just not effective way to play them imo. But this is off the topic as im sure jay was talking about his Big Ones army.

I've played the large squad of jacked hormigaunts a few times (like 25+ models, with strength, possibly WS) and i've never really failed to get my points out of them. Once i start lowering squad size it seems to greatly reduce thier effect, With the large squad i'm usually able to still get 16 or so into combat and that's enough to beat most things.

I'VE ONLY PLAY 24 HORM'S IN ONE SQUAD & 2 SQUADS OF 12 HORM'S SIDE BY SIDE JUST FOR ATTACK OPTIONS VALUE.
THAT IS: HORM (10)+TOXIC SAC's (2)+EXTEND CARAPACE (1)+ ADREN. G's (1) or FLESH HOOKS (1)= 14 points PER HORM.
I'VE TRIED ALMOST ALL COMBO'S, I LIKE THESE TWO BEST.

toxin sacs are 2pts each on them but yah, all the same... i like mine a bit cheaper, like 12 pts each. Those extra points add up fast on the big units.

Hey jay, awesome list man, but you have allot of synapse in your army... but nothing for them to keep control of aka gaunts. i wouldn't play with zoanthropes for that reason, take another carnifex with devourers. lictors are awesome! If someone wants to spent there turn moving into terrain thats better for you, it means they wont be shooting you in fear that 1 model may pop up there. and if he doesn't hes a sponge, who's says you have to engage anyone! try this tactic, just put him out in front of someone make them use all there firing on that one model! also having three units of a smaller number is better then having two of a larger for nids. its the same as a speeder sqd. for marines! they cant split fire so it makes them more effective. also play with the idea of switching one unit of raveners with rending , to a unit with devourers. That unit when deep striking can pop up and fire 16 shots at str 4 i believe?

Ok, lets correct a couple things before that last post gets out of control. Raveners have 3 attacks base. The devourers give you 2 x A in shots, so 6 shots, at ST-1, so st 3. As far as dropping the rending? Nah, it's only 2pts a guy to upgrade to rending so why bother getting rid of it, the guns are 10pts each, so you're not even close to swapping them.
I like the idea of the guns but for an expensive unit that should be running and playing in the woods and rocks (with thier opponents entrails) why waste points on mediocre shooting?

I meant the whole unit shot 16 time, but 12 times is still good when deep striking for such a small unit. and the average toughness for most armies is 3. so up against a gaurd player or tau, that could shift his firing to alow other troops to move up. combined with a lictor, could make or break the game for him!

hmm, avg. T3....yeah, not sure how that works. Most models are either T3 or T4, if evenly split the average is over T3. I haven't done an exact count, but I would wager that there are more T4+ units out there than T3 or less.

Woah,... Brian the 'Tard has dissed you. . .
And yah, the majority of armies based on # of codexi may say T3 is the norm but go to a GT or even a couple RTT and the vast majority are T4. Especially with the prevelence of Chaos and Marine armies in the field these days.
