I just started playing in a local league here in MA. I am trying out my sister/inducted guard force in the league. Most of the time they play at 2k and I am use to 1850.
I have plenty of shooty in the way of inducted guard, russ and a retributor squad and other stuff. I am looking for a good unit for counter assault to proctect the guard who usually get muched.
I alread have two good hth units in the way of a cannoness w/ power weapon litanies of faith with 8 celestians with an evisorator and two flamers and a priest with evis., imagnifer in a rhino (they tore apart 12 slanessh marines and a lord in hth last night in two rounds!) I also have a unit of 10 sister w/ two melta's an evis and an imagnifer in rhino that have been doing well.
In 2k I have about 150 - 190 points unspent. I have thought about arco-flagellants. I do not like seraphim, I have thought about a palantine w/ book of St lucius and power weapon with the rest of points in arco's which comes out 2 or 3. What ever the unit is going to be, its primary responsbility is going to be to sit there and stop units from munching my defensive guard. Are there any other good counter attack sister units out there that anyone has used?

How about a squad of zealots? You can give them the flamers or evisorators. they have good leadership so they would not run away.

I forgot about them. I have used them twice before. I was relatively unimpressed them. I was not probably playing them right. I might have to give them another try.

Ithink you are all forgetting the most awesome looking of all the units.
the Repentia, for counter assault you cant ask for a more can take out anybody unit

I was thinking about them or arco's the other night as a possibility. The only downside is if they are caught on there own they will get torn apart.

I like the Arcos as a counter assault unit, their only problem being that they can only fight 1-2 assaults before they are overpowered or bring themselves down.
I also run a unit of 12 Zealots with 2-3 Evisorators and a Priest with an Evis. A nice amount of smack with a few bullet catchers; which the Repentia lack.
Holy Zeal also makes Repentia hard to control on the table.

Tom is full of crap. The Penguin and her band of scantily clad hookers do nothing but cost 20pt a piece and die. Yes, they have evicisorators, but swinging last in combat amounts to a 400+pt unit that dies in a hurry. Holy zeal again, makes them unpredicatable and hard to hold back for a counter charge as well. Arcos are good, both as a counter assault as well as a direct assualt with a bit of screening from rhinos, etc as they make their way forward.

The arco's are so pricy though 35 pts a piece. It to bad the pentitents are holy raged. It would be cool to have them sit back.
I play with inducted guard as well. I have been thing that a unit of three sentinels would be able tie things up for a bit, but no real counter punch.
I used a small units of celestians with a meltagun and a vet with an evis. w/ a second cannoness w/book of L., power weapon, bp. They did good, making there save inv. was a lot easier when the squad size was down.

I've found a unit of 3-4 Arcos supporting a unit of normal sisters in assault H2H to be worth it. They can kill 4-5 marines on a charge and are rather easy to hide behind terrain and Vehicles.
Have you had any luck with the Celestians? I have only used them a few times with mixed results.

They have been the anchor in my army.
I have been taking 8 w/ a heavy flamer, and flamer, and a vet with an evis. I usually also put a priest with an evis. I also usually put my cannoness with a power weapon bolt pistol and litanies of faith. and a rhino.
The best situation I have had happen to date is against a 12 man and a lord slaneesh unit. they disembarked from a vehicle that had not moved fired both flamers, using the the AP1 faith power they killed 3, they charged them in cover used the +2 str and then used the invunerable power with the litanies. With all of his attacks he killed one sister, the inv save was big help, They returned with 5 str 5 power weapon attacks and 6 str 8 evis all hitting on three's with a re-roll. It wiped out everything in range. The best part about it was that they were all I 1 so the power sword and evis hit at the same time. They mopped up the rest of the unit on the next turn.
They are a decent unit a little pricey at close to 300pts w/ cannoness, I had to burn 2 faith pts and us up the litanties for the above instance, but there are not many units that stand the above charge. On the downside they have been wiped out before from bolter fire.
