Definitely the B-17. Think of the movie "12O'clock High" and "Memphis Belle". Nothing better represents American bombers better than the Flying Fortress. The B-25 Mitchell was more of an attack bomber, and the B-24 Liberator made an appearance later in the war after the struggle for air superiority had been tipped into the allied direction. I think the B-17 is your best bet since if the stats are correct it should be a challenge to down, but not totally invunerable either. Just my $.02.

Actually, American B-24s entered the combat in 1942 and they were the most produced heavy bomber of the war.
The B-17s are the iconic American WWII bomber though.

I did not know that, I thought the B-24 entered service later in the war around 1943. Have you considered the B-29 Superfortress? Nearly impossible to shoot down plus carrying a nuke to the target would be kind of good too!

B-25'S ENGINES WERE DEAFENING TO THE PILOTS, THEY HATED THEM, THE B-24'S WERE NOT MUCH BETTER AND BY FAR THE MOST PRODUCED PLANE OF WORLD WAR TWO. THE B-17'S WERE THE MOST GLORIFIED SEXIEST MACHINES. IF THE EUROPEAN CONFLICT IN WORLD WAR TWO IS WHAT YOUR INTERESTED IN, GO WITH THE B-17'S. I BEEN IN SIDE ALL 3 PLANES, WATCHED THEM FLY INFORMATIONS AND LISTENED TO THEIR POWER PLANTS. B-17'S A's,B's,C's ect.... ALL COOL, GREAT PAINT SCHEMES AND INSIGNIA'S, BEST LINES, WINDOWS & GUN LOCATIONS. B-17'S ALL THE WAY!

B-29? maybe If I get come F-4U corsairs and A6M2 Zeros...... Actually in the Pacific theatre by the time the B-29 were used, the standard Navy fighter was the F6F Hellcat. Coursairs were not as popular since they had a very long nose and made carrier based landings tricky since the long nose impared visability. As for the Zeros, only the later models would have seen action against the Superforts. Japan had much better fighters late in the war but like the Germans lacked the resources to produce enough of them to make an impact.

B-29'S WERE AT THE END OF WW2, THE BIGGEST IMPACTED THEY MADE (EXCLUDING THE BIG BOMB) WAS, BOMB LOADING TIME, BOMB SELECTION, AVIATION ELECTRONICS AND A PRESSURIZED CABIN, WHICH MADE IT THE HIGHEST FLYING BOMBER. "THE HIGHER THE BETTER", YOU CAN FIGURE THIS ONE OUT! ;D ;D ;D THE CORSAIR WAS NAMED THE "WIDOW MAKER" FOR A GOOD REASON, MOST PILOTS WERE LOST IN TRAINING. ODD BALL PLANE IF YOU"VE EVER SEEN ONE IN PERSON, I HAVE MANY PICTURES FROM AIR SHOWS. SADLY 2 OF THE BEST KNOW CORSAIR'S CRASHED INTO EACH OTHER ON A LANDING ACCIDENT ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. IN THE PACIFIC, THE FIGHTER & FIGHTER BOMBER OF CHOICE WOULD BE THE "HELLCAT" or "BEARCAT" OFF A CARRIER. FOR CARRIER PLANES THEY HAD EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE IN THAT TIME FRAME OF BATTLE. OVER ALL PLANE TO CONCIDER FOR BOTH CONFLICTS "ATLANTIC & PACIFIC" WOULD THE "P-47 THUNDERBOLT", COULD TAKE A LOT OF PUNISHMENT, BUILT BY THE SAME COMPANY WHO GAVE US THE A-10 THUNDERBOLT, (REPUBLIC ). CIAO!

One mistake, the Bearcat was not an F6F, that was the Hellcat, same name whether it was land or carrier based. The Bearcat was the F8F and entered service too late to see combat in WW2.

MAJOR, YA, I'M OFF ON THE 4 CATS: WILDCAT HELLCAT BEARCAT (2 ENGINES), CREATED DURING WW2, BUT NOT DEPLOYED IN THE PACIFIC. & YES TODAYS TOMCAT, MOST REPLACED WITH SUPER-HORNETS THESE DAYS. OTHER U.S. COOL FIGHTER PLANES OF WW2: 1) P-38 LIGHTING "THE DEVILFISH" 2) P-40's "FLYING TIGERS" 3) P-39 COBRA'S "REAR ENGINE, FRONT GUN THROUGH PROP. CENTER 4) I'M MISSING ONE! NOT A THUNDERBOLT P-47, NOT A P-51 MUSTANG, NOT A P-61 "TWIN-MUSTANG" OR ANY VERSION 0F T-6 CONVERSIONS,NOT A CORSAIR. "ALL MY AIRCRAFT BOOKS ARE STORED, I'LL FIND" CIAO!
