I see the tread from december about necromunda, but I was wondering what happened with that. I read the rulebook for necro, and I really want to try it. I thinking of doing either an enforcer squad or a gang of goliaths. What do you guys have, if anything, and who has played this before.

I saw it mentioned there as well, and that inspired my download of the rule book. I'll assume that the Necromunda: Underhive book is the same as the downloadable version.... since that's the title.

...I think I'm gonna go Goliaths. I like the enforcers, but they seem kinda rigid in options to me.

A few questions....
In close combat, do you strike with the strength of the pistol? that's the way it looks with each attack alternating weapons.
The weapon restrictions apply forever or just to starting equipment?
Shotguns include scatter shots and solid shots, any other ammo must be purchased. is this correct?
It says a model may have any number of weapons, so if I have a knife, a pistol and a basic weapon, can I draw a pistol in place of the basic weapon and get my extra cc attack?

1. You only get the bonus attack dice if you are armed exclusively with pistols and hth weapons, "Basic weapons" do not count for this. You are allowed to swap one weapon with one in your inventory at the beginning of any fight, yes hits done with your autopistol are actually shots and are treating like shooting when it comes to wounding with it.
2. The weapon restrictions apply to the items you may buy both at the beginning and throughout the game.
3. you got the shotgun thing right, it comes with slugs and shot and you have ot buy special any other rounds.
4. ok it's time to fight. My model is physically armed with (ie the model has in his hands) a sword, and a lasgun, in his pack he has a autogun, autopistol and a laspistol. First round of combat i can swap 1 of the 2 weapons he has in his hands for one in my pack. So i could swap the lasgun for the laspistol or autopistol and now get my extra attacks. Now if i am armed with a heavy bolter which i carry in both hands, then i can swap that for a sword or pistol, but since i only swap 1 weapon i can't get both.

In close combat, do you strike with the strength of the pistol? that's the way it looks with each attack alternating weapons. Yes, basically you are firing it at point blank range, not bashing them over the head The weapon restrictions apply forever or just to starting equipment? Um, don't remember Shotguns include scatter shots and solid shots, any other ammo must be purchased. is this correct? Yes. It says a model may have any number of weapons, so if I have a knife, a pistol and a basic weapon, can I draw a pistol in place of the basic weapon and get my extra cc attack? You can have as many as you want but it must be modelled on the mini. This made for some neat conversions...very neat indeed. And yes, during cc you decide what weapons you are using. Can't recall if you get to switch weapons wihtout some kind of penalty though. Or you could just read what Norton posted while i was typing up my response...

I actually answered the shotgun question myself by re-reading the armoury section, it does say it in there...
Ok, so now to compound the pistol question: how does a plasma pistol work in cc? Since it's "shots" do you get to select power level? So I could go knife, str 8 Plasma shot, then wait a turn to use the pistol again?
And also... if the buying restriction last the entire game, why are the stats for power fist and power mace given in the rules when no gang can take them? Or is this a sorta thing that if your lucky enough to find it you can use it, just not go out and buy one.... I was really hoping that it was just an initial restriction.

Norton, Question for you.
How important is Hand to Hand vs Shooting. I ask because I was looking into the Van Saars and they are a "shooty" band. Is HTH overpowring in this game or is shooting, or it it pretty much balanced.
Say I only have knives and Las/Autoguns is this going to severly hinder me when/if I get into HTH combat? You, having played this more than I am wondering what your experince is...also I see your play a HTH gang so I would like to get some insight here before I start building a gang.
