I found it!!! Page 97, you can use a "rare item" find at the trading post to buy a weapon not on your house weapon list. So you can get other weapons, just they count as rare.

OK, if you read carefully in the "after the mission" section, you can buy normally anything in your house armoury list, this represents stable contacts your gang has, Like i'm playing goliaths, I know a dude who can get me a steady supply of autocannons, whenever i got the cash, he can get me one. However lascannons are not on my list. BUT anything not on my list is considered a RARE item and i can have gangers go search for one and see if they can score me one. Basically i sent bob joe and jim to the black market to see if anyone is hawking a slightly used lascannon. Ditto with the power fists etc.
EDIT, umm i think i'm wrong on the lascannon bit, but the power fist is fine as it's a generic rare item, but my goliaths will never get lascannons.

I don't have too much experience playing the game, but it does seem to begin as a short range shooty game. The tables should be heavily cluttered to cut down on long range shooting and the multi-leveled playing field helps as well. Being limited in HTH weapons dosnt appear to be a big deal as you'll end up spending less time searching for rare ranged weapons so you can instead search for rare HTH weapons.

Here;s the deal: It's very much a HTH game, but you will get shot at before you get into it. with the right tactics, shooty bands can still kick butt!

That's exactly the way I understood it after I read it in the rules. You can send guys to search for rare items, and if they are sucessfull you can use a result to buy "non-standard" equipment for your gang. I'm gonna do goliaths. Made a roster, now just to get the models. who doesn't love a bunch of roid raging dudes with clubs and swinging chains

So how many models are u typically gonna end up with. IK u can only have 1 leader and 2 heavies, but how many dudes is enough?

I have 10 in my list. If I droped some weapons I could get up to 12. That's with the starting 1000 creds. Not sure how important manpower is vs. weapon quality

Anybody interested in trying out the game tonight? (3/16) A few of us have the rulebook now, and it might be fun to give the game a few go's before we start a campai.
Also it might help us with what models to order.

I'm hoping to be there on sunday. Anyone interested in a runthrough then. I'd be using proxies to get an idea so I can try to decide what gang and such.

Sunday coming up is the conclusion of the Escalation League. It will most likely be an all day event with 2 games, scoring, and a Painting Contest.
Orville if you would have been like a day sooner on the post I may have played
BTW the "Rule Book" that we bought in the store is way off....I should have just printed out the free version off the internet. The lists for gang weapons is a "little"(ALOT) off.
Thats up to you.

I did print out the free version. So what seems to be the difference between them?

In that case, I guess next weekend would be better. I can't do thursdays because I have class this semester. So next Sunday I am looking to do proxy runthroughs with anyone interested in testing it out.
I guess I need to print the rulebook though. I was planning on using my old rules, but if it's different, then a printing I will go.
