2008/2009 Escalation Painting League

What are you gonna rock at the tourney dacius? I know you can always go chaos, but the chance of you having painted chaos seems low. Was there something else you were working on? Are you sticking with guard and are ya gonna use em? Im interested in seeing what you can paint if you actualy put some effort on a model instead copious amounts of black primer.

I'm probably throwing in for this too. Good chance to finish my demons. All depends on life between now and then. I'll know for sure by mid-sept after all the new school year stuff settles back down.

Im thinking about reworking chaos, my guard i want to spend time at my leisure so that it comes out really polished. The problem with chaos, and marines in general is that i have a hard time thinking up a color scheme that i can really get behind, as i could with guard. Thats why i think the guard stuff looks so much better than the chaos stuff, is partly because i had a clear idea before hand of what i wanted them to look like, as opposed to prime it black and hope it looks good with splashes of color.

My two ideas for chaos right now are a bleach bone/ khaki colored armor with black or purple trim, or tin bitz armor with white, purple or red trim.

Does anyone have an idea or comment about either idea for a chaos army?

P.S I better see that terminator squad of death on the table, i have a new fun plan to kill them chris

My terminators/crusader is like an american express to me cuz i do not leave the rock without em, but im pretty sure in the rules 2+ saves are not legal for the first 400 points for obvious reasons. But as the points go up i will bring em for sure, but probably the librarian squad since the chappy term squad is one of the first squads i painted and that is slightly counter productive to the whole spirit of the escalation tourny. But if I get competitive and feel i need em youll see em. I like that your not rushing the guard onto the table and focusing on putting a nice paint job on em. Doing that is gonna help you develop the painting skills to make your next army after them truly amazing. Or if you wanna be realy cool you can make them pink with white drips all over em and call them El' Johnson's juice.

Alright I'm thinking about do this league.. Questions though:

• What if I don't use all the points one week, lets just say for tactical reasons, can I role them into the next week?
  ex: I only use 150 one week can I add 250 the next game?
  
• Does the list have to grow from the previous list or can is change week to week?
  ex: I get crushed one of the first weeks, I would like to reformat for the next game. Can I do this or do I have to just add to what I had the week I go crushed?
  
• Can you expand or add points to a squad used in a previous week?
  ex: Only have points for a 5 man squad one week, can I later add the remaining 5 guys to max a squad out or add Vet. Sgt., or add heavy/special weapons?

Only thing about your list that must remain the same is the army codex in which you originally choose from.

As long as you do not exceed the points limits for each week you can do any point allotment you like up the point limit. For example, week 2 is 600 points, if you have 575, then thats ok, but if you have 602, you should be looking for something to drop.

Smitty, First of all, glad to see another old timer playing in this league. Gotta show these new kids how the game is played.

For your questions. You don't roll over any unspent points, otherwise i could play 200 point games right till the end and then roll my opponnent with my 14,000 pt army against his measly 2000.

I bet I would win that.

But otherwise, like Ron mentioned, nothing about your list has to stay the same. It's just a series of games that other then all being in the league, have nothing to do with each other.

Along those lines, would anyone like to get in a practise game sometime this week? Special Dave and I took on Tom / Dacious at 400 and 600 pts on sunday. It was a good time, got through both games in about 3 hrs.

Soleman, you're on, this thursday, i'll be there with 400 points of awesome, ready to crush your puny force! (or just sort of sissy slap each other to death, it's only 400 pts)

Lets use the rules that IronWarrior posted at the beginning, no 3wound guys, no armor over 33, etc.

I'll post a list in a while, see what ppl think.

So am I, seeing you participate takes the pressure off from me for finishing last!

BTW if you get that prismatic spray paint you can paint all three colors in one coat. ( Dans Crafts and Things now carries it for models! )
