2008/2009 Escalation Painting League

Here is the list I'm thinking of running. Anyone have any thoughts on it? My plan is to combat squad the tac.squad. Leave the plasma cannon half in some terrain. Put the pwr weapon / melta in the razorback and start cruising around.

The one man Death company just sorta gets shot and dies... but what can you do?

230 Tactical squad x10 guys 190, Plasma Cannon 15, Meltagun 10, Power weapon 15.
50 Razorback, Heavy bolters 50
120 Scouts x5 80, Sniper x4 20, Missile launcher 20.
0 Death Company x1
0 Death company Rhino
400 TOTAL

Norton, my Blood Angel list looks to much like yours.
I will also have a single man Death Company elite choice, that's why
we pay 115 points for a five man squad. I'm not concerned about
the first 400 points, but the way this is starting I think the next 2 rounds of 200
may still look the same. I'll see what I can plan differently for the first
800 points.

Blood Angels shall finish first and second, I hope you don't
mind second! ;D ;D ;D

Norton - Rules for the escalation league works. The jury is still out on which army I'll bring, but I'll bring a list with me if I haven't posted it here first.

Shouldn't you be charging 40 points for your rhino?

A Death Company with 10 or fewer models
that does not have jump packs may select a
Blood Angels Rhino or a Drop Pod as a
dedicated transport vehicle (see p. 25 for
points cost).

Other than that, the list looks pretty solid! I look forward to playing against it.

I actually have a real question and it makes a big difference as far as
organization and skill level through tournament play.

Is this competition:
A)--A campaign type tournament where each week you add to what
----was played, built and painted from the previous tournament play.

-----------------------------------OR-------------------------------------

B)--Play what ever models you wish after meeting the minimum
----requirements set by "The Tournament Ambassador."


I prefer A, but have no issues with B.

DOH! You are absolutely right. I misread the entry for this, thought it was saying you could upgrade to jump packs, but rhino was included in cost.

Wtvr, i guess i drop the rhino from the 400 pt game.

Do we know how much the entry fee will be? And how will opponents be chosen?

With a $20 per person entry fee, the end prizes should be pretty nice. My only concern is how can we make sure that everything will be fair for all players?

Mission, set up, Special rules or Teams determined by yours truley

Is there a way players can roll or draw names for teams or match ups or use the missions from the book instead? That way all players have a chance. Example if there are 14 players and its a team mission, 7 players write down their names on a paper slip, then the other 7 draw name for their partner? Will missions be determined ahead of time, or can players just roll at random for a mission and deployment from the book?

How it worked last year is it is randomly determined by card pulling then evaluated by "did you play them recently" if not then off to play you go. I will have Index cards with your name and scores on them. Those will be the Cards we will use for drawing from.

Let me clear this up...you DO NOT get to pick your opponent OR Team Mate should a doubles round come up. Everything will be done randomly until the last 3 weeks where it will be according to how you rank.

20 Dollar buy in, prizes are done in the form of Boldo gift certificates and yes, we had about $280 (after the giving back money special rule -that will NOT be used this year due to complexity) So there hopefully will be a substantial award presented.

Mission will be determined or presented the day of the tournament, it may result in a made up mission or one from the book...ANY mission from the book , so read them ALL (including the special ones) This could include missions from the Cityfight Codex, even the Apocalypse Book, Oh and there was a Jungle rumble last year, so as I said, be ready for anything!
