2008/2009 Escalation Painting League

Hello again fellow gamers, Its that time again for me to run another paiting escalation league and I have had a number of people request I run another one of these events. I will be running this just after the Fall Out Apoc game is over I will give more details later on an exact dates.

For those of you that didnt participate last year or those that are new to my escalation painting Leagues I will explain a little bit about it here.

This League is about PAINTING mostly. By the completion of this escalation League you should have a fully painted 2000 point army and have played with it from 400 points too 2000 points. Not only will this help you get your army painted but it should give you a feel for your army as you build it and paint it if you fufill your part and keep up with the painting.

Can I use an army that is already painted?
Answer: Yes, but I think your missing the point of the League. Try to have a new army either not fully painted or not painted at all to enter in the League. Its not a requirment, but it would be cooled to have one that you can work on through out the league.

How is the League ran?
Answer: The Escalation League will start at 400 points of fully painted models and every 2 weeks (this may change depending on holidays/tournments) you add 200 more points (fully painted) to the list. Each Escalation League Day (sundays usually) you play in a tournament setting, 2 points for a win, 1 for a Draw, 0 for a Loss. Mission, set up, Special rules or Teams determined by yours truley. MANY things could happen in this League so be ready, for example one week we had Team battles, Jungle Rumbles, City sprawls and others.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Scoring was quoted wrong, 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. My apologies.

How Long is it ran for?
Answer: Until we get everyone at 2000 points, usually every 2 weeks. Date may slide according to Holidays and Tournaments.

What if my models aren't painted (meaning 3 colors minimum and based)?
Answer: You will lose 2 Points from your total score at the end of the Escalation League Day. (this is diffrent from last time so take note) (You cannot go into the negatives)

What if I cant make it one week?
Answer: Sorry but you miss out on earning points that week. Sometimes life does happen to people. Hurry back when you can.

What if I won best painted or Over All, or came in second last year?
Answer: Great question, Evil Eric, Iron Warrior, That Guy James and Lord Norton are inellegable to win Best painted, Over all or second place for either, with the SAME Armies as last time. Get new armies guys. As champions show that your up to snuff to beat the pants off people with a diffrent army.

That Guy James: Ultra Marines
Iron Warrior: Evil Sunz Orks
Lord Norton: Slaanesh Chaos Marines

Entrance fee is $20

How we did it last time is that the money is split in 2, Half going to painting and Half going to Over all. 66% of that Half goes to First place and 33% to Second place. These will be in the form of Boldos Credit.

We had a HUGE turn out and follow through last time, Lets do it again!! We all had a great time so continue the pattern. As I did last time the result of each week will be posted by me as I track it.

So, here is the first round of the Escalation League info so you people can all start getting prepared.

400 points
No Models with more than 2 wounds
No model with a 2+ armor save
No Vehicle with Armor totaling more than 33
1+ Troop Choice
No Special/Unique/Named Characters
No More than 1 HQ (but HQ are not required)
4X4 Table
Missions : Youll find out later
Deployemnt: See Above

When will this start?Answer: After Fall Out, I will keep you informed.

BTW, if you have concerns or questions feel free to post them, However, do not complain for the sake of complaining. The first round is the way it is for a reason, yes it will be challanging for some armies, usually 400-600 points are like this. As soon at we hit 800+ we start going into our "normal" force orgs and things return to normal. So show that your up to the challange or tough it out until said time. Good luck all!

Sounds like a lot of fun! I may be up to that...as soon as you post more details (dates, whatnot), I'll have a definite answer for you as to whether I could do this or not.

When can we expect this information? Will you inform us after Fall Out, or is it just starting after that? How much notice will be given? I think this could be good inspiration to get one of my armies finally painted, but obviously the dates are important to me due to kid weekends.

How is painting judged and by whom? Will it be player judged? or by a 3rd party? Is painting based on the entire army or will players put up their best painted pieces?

If it's like last time, you put up your whole army (presuming you finished it in time) and everyone who's in the league gets to vote for best army.

Thank you for posting this Ron.

For the past few weeks we have been discussing the possibility of running an escalation league again. In light of many issues that seem to have crept in recently we were looking for a way to encourage people to play and paint more. This league was a blast the last time we ran it. It was fun to play in and in the end most people who participated had awesome finished armies just in time for tournament play!

I would like to say that there are a few things to keep in mind in regards to this.
1)If you are considering this please start painting now! It is very easy to get behind or not finish.
2)The purpose of this league is to have fun and to have a fully painted army at the end that you are proud to have made. The purpose is not to win at all cost and beat down your friends. This was a fun event last time and will be again, trust me!
3) I dont have any objections to people completing their armies. If this is the only way that Foser or Special will ever complete their list then what harm is there in letting them do it? My only concern is that you actually finish this time, there is no room for two time failure, LOL!
4) This is a great motivator for painting! many of us, myself included, have armies awaiting paint. A bit of support and encouragement in this form helps out enormously!

As for dates I was thinking a mid september kickoff? Thoughts?

Only thing we need atm is a starting date. Let me know what dates are good for you as a starting date and we generally go every 2 weeks from there. the more the merrier. Missions and set ups are given the day of the tournament, so expect anything and everything. It keeps the players on thier toes. I may give you hints or tell you to prepare for certain things in the forums. Oh! good point, I highly reccomend you read this forum 1 a week if your in the Escalation League, it will help with Dates, Hints and of course the scores.

McCommander: Yes you can, but I would like to see new armies out there. Now is a great time to rearrange and fix your Chaos army if thats what your thinking of doing.

As james said, it will be done like last years. Everyone sets up thier finished army and it is player judged at the end of the tournament. The Army with the 2 Highest Votes wins.

Looking at a Mid september starting time. Looking at the 14th or the 21st for the first day.

I'd vote for 9/21 or 10/5 for a starting date. Those are non-kid weekends, and as long as it's every other week on non-kid weekends, I should be able to make most of them.

As I said in my previous post, this sounds like fun and a great motivator to actually finish an army so Doug can get off my back!
