I contacted Chris Gohlighorst. They are not adding any more events to the 2009 Circuit.

What we need to do is to run class act DaBoyz GT (or what ever name we give it) this year. I think we have run good GT's in past, it the location has always been a problem. So we start renting a place, then it should not be a problem.

So I want to try to get on 2010 list.

Yah, I knew there would be no chance for 2009, but you guys seemed poised for a good 2009 event anyway. A great event this year would make for a better showing/ attendence for the next year.

Advertise the heck out of this once you have it going. I can post it inside the gwuscommunity. You have time to get it into White Dwarf if just. Get the word to Dakka, Warseer, etc. Get the buzz going now. How many days? How many events?

If you want to run multiple 40K events, I could help. I know that you guys hate running the events when you would love to be playing, but if you had multiple events, you could swap with each other.

Also, there are some perks the first time you run a circuit event. I forget what they are, but GW helps get these things going. Lets hope those perks are still around with our wonderful economy.

How do people feel about playing in Brockport?

I found a hall out towards that way for under $500.

I was always partial to "DaBOYZGT"
It conveys as Mr Courtney once said "This is a GT not about how we think they want it done but about how we (DaBOYZ) know it should be done.

Hate to bring up $$$ into this too but when we play at a Con we can turn near 100% of tourney fees back into prizes. If we go by last GT prices which we wanted low so that jo average gamer would come.

$25 a head means we have to have 26 people show up just to rent the hall DaBOYZGT06 had 25 people, DaBOYZGT08 had 34

that does not leave much for prize support.

The impression I'm getting is that Jay is trying for more than just a GT. I think he wants to organize something more along the lines of Adepticon, with multiple events. As such, the DaBoyz GT would become part of the con.

Gabe is right. I am trying to make this a bigger event.

I think the name DaBoyz GT puts some people off. I love to get a name and have it sponsored by DaBoyz, team Sprint, PTG, Boldo's and etc. Maybe get some out side sponsors.

I love some of the names Ron. Any more ideas( anyone else have any any ideas. I was thinking about the name Rapid Fire 09. I would love to get a group of names and vote on them.

GW is giving prize support of alot of events.


The problem with the local cons is that we can't schedule something more then 12 weeks out. It is hard to have people come if (that are out of area) if they can't plan on it.


When we ran the RIT Daboyz tournament. The we paid $25 and only got $10 for prizes. I don't know what was had for Geneneso. Tom you would know better than I.

Can i ask then if you are trying to make this a bigger event what additional events you plan on adding? We have 3 Cons in the area every year and i would like to know what we are adding to the mix?

As for the name DaBOYZGT putting some people off, i dont think we can hide who we are behind a name change.

If we make a quality event people will come.
(Case and point is that we had 8 more people in the 08GT than the 06)

Please understand i am not trying to be a general naysayer but am offering a critical not being offred up yet.

If DaBOYZGT gets replaced with a "NorthernregionalEvent" how long before the event is no longer run the way DaBOYZ know it should be done and instead is run so the Coyote's Denners like it or "Infiltrate" is banned as to powerful like the old Canadian GTs. Or all missions are just victory points no comp no painting. (Ardboyz tourney)

But as I pointed out, DaBoyz GT would not go away or be hidden. It would simply be incorporated into the larger con. It seems that Jay wants to run a Games-workshop type con. Get some of the local gaming groups to host different events, (one of which would be the DaBoyz GT). As such, we would still have control of our GT, running it the way we want it to be, but we draw more people by also running events that interest them.

My concern is whether or not it's a good idea to jump into this so fast. Right now we have a moderate sized 40k GT, a smallish Fantasy GT, and nothing else. People are travelling to see us, but not all that far. Have we had anyone from farther than Syracuse or Buffallo? How many? I think we need more area recognition as a good gaming area to draw people in before we can reasonably expect to pull something like this off with success. In order to have a con succeed, we would need good numbers overall, although not necesarily at each of the con events in particular.

Also, keep in mind that the more events we run at a con, the more staff we need. If we are all working as staff on some event, we aren't playing, thus reducing our numbers.

I would love to see something like this eventually, but I think we need to really think about if we are ready for it yet. Maybe talk to the guys who run adepticon about how their event evolved.

So I finally got a response back. How does the month of October sound for the GT? Or sometime in early November?

October sounds good to me.. We are doing Pre-registration correct?
Jay don't forget Sparks said they can post a banner for the GT on the Adepticon Site.. Plus I can start promoting it on the Freebootaz forum when ever you want me to, and try call into the show.. I can also put together a flier to post and hand out once we have a date time and everything worked out..
