I like your sheet. It has the same basic concept I feel. The only problem I have with it is the 50% of points spent on troop. Because while in small points games that my not be hard for any army, when you get up in points armies like Tau need to use every slot with maxed out squads to come close to making that 50% cut. I think at 2000pts they can only break 40% of the points. yeah, it has been a bit of an issue; but one players have accepted. It was uniformly agreed that the 40% old RTT standard was great, so we pushed it up! Fundamentally it encourages the use of basic troopers (not Super Troopers!), over the specialized units. Very few players actually not get the 1 point (my bug horde is at 50.7%)! We typically play 1700 pt tourneys, so it works out OK. The annual CoD 1250 pts one is where most players will get the bonus point. Troops are a must in CoD! As for the "60% of units... are troops"; that is a funky one! Typically I will run 4 troop UNITS, if it is my wolves I need 3 HQs (at 1700), then a fast (speeders), and elite (scouts & dreadnought) and and heavy (exterminator) - so that is 4 out of 11... the army is VERY balanced points wise. So does this option encourage maxing out troop units in both size and options, or the number of troops unit to be 6, with minimal "other" units. I'm not sure... either way, if you have 60% of your units are troops, you'll most likely have 50% of your points as troops too!

My thing with ours it we made it easy for one of the two questions, to get the maximum number of armies we could to reach the goal of 35% of points with minimal impact to most armies thats strengths are not in their troops. But harder to hit that 60% mark so to make players decide am I going for power or comp.

Anyone else planning on going besides Paul, Brian, Doug, and myself?
It looks like to be a good turn out.

I would love to see all of you there I know it is not possible. We have about 8 guys coming up from NYC so please come on out.
also Friday night a few of us will be down at the On-Center setting up. So if you would like to come down and meet with me and a few of the other judges and hopefully players from the Syracuse area and the Warmongers maybe get a game in. Since I am not playing tournament I would like to play one of you guys. Something small like 1000pts would be cool. I will tell other that they can bring 1000pt armies as well if you guys are up for a few fun games before the indy GT. I will be getting to the On-Center around 6:30 and we can go down to one of the bars after we are done setting up for a few drinks if you guys would like.

Jays nids took best painted. Unfortunately they could not stop a monolith or two. Here are all the winners and Loser (Brian)

Assault 07 was a very successful event! The competition was fierce thanks to a nice showing from the Warmongers. DaBoyz in attendance had a really good time, even if the Necron list with two monoliths and the Deceiver was too much for Jay's nids and my Grey Knights to handle. Thanks to Ed and Kevin for running the tournament with class. I'm looking forward to next year. Hopefully the hobby can rebound and the number of participants will climb back to more respectable levels.

Well said Paul. I had a great time and alot of fun at a well run event. It is always exciting to see different armies and meet new people. The Warmongers and Monkey Head players were alot of fun, along with the guys from Syracuse (Team Spite). Way to go Jay for best painted and Paul for third best! Nice job Brian, for locking up last place to save me the humilation of filling that void myself!

It was great time. Doug drank so much the Saturday night he had to sit out one of games Sunday. Granted he was going to have to play John Adams and I think the ass kicking he give Kemp scared him sick.
I actually beat the necron list with two monoliths, I got beat by a warmonger with one monolith and I think 14 destroyers. Good game, but lost. He was smart player, did not make a mistake. There were a lot of good players, just too bad everyone could not go. I actually won best painted (because Chris was not there). I thought two chaos armies were better painted, but the orange and white must of suck them in.

The albany guy left early and forfeit his second place so everyone moved up you had overall and Pete's Chaos if the HQ had his arms would have been first but we couldn't see giving him first with having an unfinished model. So you got it jay. The sad part is if pete's guy did have his arms he would have won.

Whew Hooo! Scott left early with his Wordbearers and moved me from fourth to third in painting, and the other chaos guy Pete couldn't get the arms finished on his Bloodthirster ... so I really would have finished fifth. Now that is how the Grey Knights really rule chaos!
