I've seen some of the locals posting pics of works in progress on other sites and blogs and figured we could use one for the Winter Painting League here if y'all want to share. Seeing others' works inspires and motivates me so maybe it will for others as well. I was too scared to pick up an airbrush until I saw Horst's airbrushed marines on Dakka and now I'm airbrushing like crazy.
Anyone want to share their WIP's for the painting league? I'll post some of mine after work.

sure Here's my apothecary I finished recently: and here's a 5 man squad of marines I recently finished: I also decided that as much as I liked the sanguinary guard guys I did, they didn't look like anything more than veterans. SO, I'll be fielding them as vanguard veterans, and I picked up some sanguinary guard models to field as sanguinary guard. Here's the first of them, with the first layers of highlight on him:

Nice Steve. I'm also working on zenith highlighting with an airbrush. Here's my first 500pts. This grotesque is a fantasy ogre with talos bits. He's my test palette for colors and new techniques. I airbrushed the base flesh tones and then used very light washes to shade. I'm also trying freehand battle damage and powders for rust effects for the first time on his gauntlet. I think I like everything so far so I'm gonna quit painting and try to get everything else assembled so I can batch it all and hopefully finish the first 500pts between 12/6-12/18.

the highlighting on those flesh tones is really, really nice Makes me wish my guys showed a bit more skin so I could try that.

Thanks man. I got tired of doing the GK armors real fast so I wanted to go back to something more organic (but not Nids yet).
Who else wants to show some painting league W.I.P.'s?

Nice grotesques Joe.
Those finecast wracks are terrible huh? I got one whos entire sprue had solid flashing from top to bottom, left to right. I may have to find a wrack conversion I like just to avoid getting more finecast.

I picked up a few of the boxes when they first came out but just now got to them. The flashing is pretty bad on some of them but the biggest problem I have had is the fragility of their back backs and swords.
I converted a unit of wyches but there are a lot of other options out there. Wait to you see my converted Haemoculi hehe.

Yeah...I opened up my unit of Wracks a few days ago to look at them and all I can say is I hate finecaste...what a pain in my arse.
So it seems that three of us went DE for the escalation league eh?! You bastards, I'm not sure how I'm going to compete painting wise against you two.

I think Rob is doing DE also. Great minds think alike eh? It will bring a new flavor to the scene at least. People were starting to get rowdy about Grey Knights at the last tournament... Here's my model for this week. I just finished the airbrushing coats and am starting the detailing by hand. There's a step-by-step on my blog here: synaps3.blogspot.com/2011/11/dark-eldar-wips.html

Since I am not in the winter league (being in Syracuse and all) but I am still painting this winter I figured I would share what I am working on right now. Daemon Princess of Slaanesh that I have had for about a year and a half and held off painting. The flesh is just basecoated, but I just about finished the cross hatching on the legs. Nothing fancy here, but I also did up the Da Boyz chips in ym army colors.

Aaron have you looked closely at the wracks? I am trying to figure out what is flesh, what is cloth, what is detail, what is flash...good god not looking forward to painting up these guys hehe.
