its not really comping with that 0-2 restriction, nutter.
Because you can have 2 teammates with the same army list. So instead of considering it as a 1500 point list with restrictions, you can say its a 3000 point game, with 0-4 slots.
Meaning, you can legitimately take 4 squads of longfangs, then 10 rhinos full of grey hunters. Or something like that.
Or you can make a list like I was planning, with 8 (4 heavy, 4 baal) predators in it between the two of us.
You can do some REALLY nasty things like that. I'd say the team style w/ force org limits actually encourages more cheese than it prevents, unless the players are using different codex.

Note that Boldo said that it would be player ranked Comp and Sportsmanship. If he is running this the same way he ran the running Gagg Tournament that would mean at the end of the tournament u rate the 3 teams you played against in order of best to worst comp and sportsmanship.
I personally feel that there should be a Comp Rubric and each team is judged by the TO/Boldo and its not based on an arbitrary scale which doesn't really define comp in any measurable terms.
Just thought you all should know how it likely will end up playing out.

Dean- Glad you talked with Alex, I do like the player ranking comp system and fully support it, hell, I might even support the almighty DaBoyz tournament if they employed that system or something reasonably similar instead of the "play 40K our way" system that penalized armies that didn't fit into their cookie cutter system and were not what the judges liked. Yes i do support systems where the players do have some say in the overall outcome because I trust the players. If you cannot trust the people who play this game, why in the world would you want to play it? Nutter- Everything you "buy" has a preview and review in life, football has the preseason and post season, movies have pompous critics and then fan boys and girls, education has the SAT's (both preview and review at once), so when i'm buying into a tournament I like to know what im getting into and how my army is going to be reviewed in that specific setting. Wrong! Let me cite Obamacare. No one was allowed to review this pile of crap until after they voted on it. Also, are you allowed to open all your packs in a Magic draft before paying? Nope. There are some things in life that are left to chance, and we have to deal with it through proper planning. In regards to this tournament bring a list that you think players will like and that you can win with. If you bring all Nobs and Battlewagons it may not be liked and scored that well, but if you bring that Deathwatch army it's rumored that you are painting you may be ranked pretty well by your fellow competitors. Aaron- Tomorrow I will be hosting the New York Chili cook-off. Points will be deducted from contestants who use beef and/or beans. Crock Pot White Chicken Chili (no beans) Ingredients 2 pounds skinless boneless chicken breast 1 15 oz can corn or hominey 1 1/4 oz taco seasoning 4 1/2 oz chopped green chilis 1 can cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup (red fat) 14 oz can chicken broth 1/2 c sour cream Directions Place chicken (can be frozen) in crock pot. Top with corn. Mix taco seasoning, chilis, broth and soup together in bowl and pour on top. Cook on low 6-8 hrs. Before serving, break up chicken and add sour cream and stir. Can top with cheese and green onions, just adjust calories. Number of Servings: 8 Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user LOVEYACOFFEE. There is my entry! For instance, this event is called "Games Workshop Championship", yet it uses comp which is not supported, defined, or even mentioned in the current ruleset, nor does it appear in Throne of Skulls or 'Ardboyz which are the only GW sanctioned events. Yet we can call this event the "GW Championship" and penalize players who bring armies that are 100% supported and legal at GW sponsored events. You're right, I don't like that name either let's call the event Spot, or maybe Rover, how about Fluffy,...hmmm maybe even Rex? Not trying to be a douche, or am I? See you at SIMCON.

Canned cream soups are thickened with flour, which means that its not something my wife with her gluten allergy can eat. If the recipe cannot be eaten by everyone there then it really doesn't deserve to win. /sarcasm Not that I'm wanting to put the end to some spirited discussion on the board, after all it doesn't appear that there's really been much of that lately. (shout out to Iron Warrior who I see made an appearance!) I think that one of the things that everyone is forgetting here is that this is just a game. Win, loose or draw you've just spent about two hours pushing little toy soldiers around a table. Pew pew noises are optional. Seems to me all the whining in this thread and in the other thread are about people trying to play the tournament instead of people just playing the game.

[Rant] Sorry MajorSOB obama care had a long term rol our and preview, it is called Romneycare its a highly concervative and pretty weak ass minor health insurance regulation just like obama care. It of course dismissed in the kabillion weeks that this was in committie reviewed by our senators and congressmen and the months that the mediapicked it apart, and that the highly concervatve media covered the Death Pannels like it was really in the act. To say this has not been previewed is as sad as the other republican complaint... Oh gosh this highly complicated law that will be picked apart by lawyers for years is over 1000 pages long. (Almost as long as most peoples health insurance policies) [/rant]
That chicken chili is awsome! (We added white beans though) We actually had it last night its an ultimate dump and stir meal. And Sooooo tasty. (Rotnak your wife has had this, she said it was gluten free, she likes it!)
On the sublect a little more i gotta agree with Horst, simple force org does not inspire comp and in a team event it indeed can be worse. 12 Killer kans? hell even 12 IG artillery, do we need to see 18 razorbacks?

(Rotnak your wife has had this, she said it was gluten free, she likes it!) You can't add white beans, that's against the rules! Isn't there a page in the official GW guide to Making Chili ( retail price $35 for some reprinted articles that originally appeared in White Dwarf ) that specifically forbids beans? The next thing you know you will want to add beef to the chili! We all know that makes you a bad, bad man for wanting beef in your chili. Just don't add 9 pounds, three is good but never, ever 9. And be very careful when skimming the fat from the dish. Apparently we have had a problem with skimmers too!

Pew pew noises are optional. Only until 6th edition, then they will be mandatory and will affect your comp and sportsmanship scores if you don't shout them loud enough. Remember the GTs with the "Waaaaaaaaaah!" screams? ?

Oh yes! Actually when I went down to Syracuse for a tournament with my orks during round three I was playing against some marine player. I said at the begining of my turn. "Im calling a Waaagh." calmly. The TO stood up and walked over to my table, saying, "Woah woah woah, Im sorry, no you cannot just state you are Waaagh-ing. Im sorry, you can't do that." I was surprised becuase I thought I was breaking some rule. I looked at him and he had a grin on his face. The whole tournnament was looking at my table and then it struck me! I proceeded to yell WAAAAAAAGH! at the top of my lungs, everyone cheered and we went back to playing. Now that was a fun tournament!

Actually it is up to the organizers to determine if beans are cannon or not. In all actuality I do remember watching a couple of chili cook-offs on tv and the rules stating that real chili has no beans.

We played a game today in which two IG players used each others abilities ... i.e. Creed gave orders to squads from both forces, etc... Boldo was sitting there and didn't protest that we were using some odd version of the brother's in arms rule (though I'm not sure he was paying attention to be honest with you). We were playing Sisters and Grey Knights, and while both Inquisition, they are not from the same codex, so we did not get to use each other's abilities. What other versions of this rule exist that has you so concerned?

Ok, the OP only includes the dates but not the start time so I went to the Simcon site and it has the start time listed at 9:30am. Can anyone confirm if that is when registration is open or is that when the 1st round starts. I do not wish to show up late like I did for Running Gagg due to a lack of clarification on times.
Looking forward to a fun weekend!

If i remember correctly last year signups started at like 10 but if the website says 9:30 that's when I'll be there. Also fair warning to whoever's running this I believe there are at least 4 teams from RWAG coming so it's looking like a bigger turn out than last year. (pretty sure there were only 6 teams last year)

Dean and his bro took best overall Gabe and his bro took best comp Smitty and i got best general (to those who attended, if i missed anything from above feel free to correct)
I'll post pics monday after tomorrows square base event.
