Any update? This is the problem I can see when no one takes up the event and runs with it. I know Tom wants to coordinate since his brother can work the Syracuse boys. We need tokeep the talks going though.

Mike I agree that we have let thigs slip a bit but I think the Syracuse challenge is a good topic for this weekend or thursday. We all expected to have a holiday slump, but after the first of the year we should try pushing this event. I think it will be alot of fun, but more importantly we were challenged and our honor is on the line.

talked to the bro about this durring X-Mass...
the syacuse guys have let the topic slip on their forums so they could discuss it privatly No clue about the buffalo people
TJ liked the idea of a 6 person team from each location. with 2 2 on2 games and 2 1 on 1 games 3 rounds means each set of 2 people would play both other stores in a 2 on 2 and a single 1 on 1
he also liked the idea of having in the 6 tables a Cityfight (with cityfight rules) board a Jungle fight (with junglefight rules) board. and a Beaches of normandy heavy defence board.
(I think this would be great if we made a new sceenic board of one of these 3 themes)
No dates are in stone but he wanted to do this in feb or march.

Later in February might work since Gagg is the first weekend of February and March I believe is Adepticon. Last I checked there were several guys interested in going there.

So if it's going to only be 6 players from each side how are we going to decide which 6 people get to play? it's certainly seems like more than 6 people from our side are interested in participating.
I think this would require a mini-qualifying tourney to see who gets to play and who gets to watch...

Brian, I have noticed that you have been posting all over the boards from 2pm on all day today. Whats wrong arent your cartoons on? Please only post if it relevant to the conversation. Id prefer if you didnt post if all but I cant have everything.
As for this Syracuse vs Rochester thing.
Syracuse is a bunch of Chickens! Why else would it take them so long to come up with something like this?
heheh (all in good fun) But whats the problem? Lets see some dates! So we can get the ball rolling.

i have a feeling the association between the Syracuse people and barn yard fowl might help get that ball rolling (or hinder it, meh!)

I had an idea for a larger scale team tournament a while back and thought I'd finalize it to help things along.
What I thought would rock would be a series of interconnecting battles wherein smaller scale encounters contribute towards a massive final effort to decide who wins. For instance, if Da Boyz win a certain minor objective, and capture a radar tower, all their commanders in the final assault will count as having an auspex.
So basically there would be a first round of games where we have all one on ones and a two on two. While we tally the results and distribute the benefits, we take a break, get dinner, then come back and have one huge battle at the end between our respective champions. That way everyone can participate and feel like they contributed to the final battle. The other nice thing about this is that even if one side gets crushed in the opening rounds, they will still have a chance (albeit less of a chance) to win the whole competition.
Team Structure:: Each team has three tiers in which their players fit. The idea behind this is that the lower tiers can be expanded or contracted as necessary to allow for different sized teams.
Tier 1:: Soldier This is the position the majority of the players will occupy. They will fight in one on one scenarios for minor objectives to be used in the final assault. This can be anywhere from combat patrol to somewhere around 1200 pts. This is supposed to represent a small scale encounter, so nothing huge. Objectives would be something that has significance, but not a make or break. The best part is most of these ideas can be formed around the standard mission types in the BBB, so we don't even have to come up with anything weird.
Some ideas for minor objectives:: Radar Tower (Auspex for Command Units) Missile Silo (Single use Ordnance Blast anywhere on the board) Secure Supply Route ( Extra d6x5 points for Champion's army comp ) Weapons Cache ( Free heavy weapon upgrade for d3+3 units in Champion's army ) Rescue Squad ( Upgrade one sergeant type unit for free ) Sabotage ( Single use crew stunned for any enemy vehicle ) Assassination ( Losing sides' Champion has to lose a single sergeant type unit from his army of the winner's choice. ) Espionage ( Get to re – place one unit after all unit's have been placed.)
Tier 2:: Commander This will ideally be a pair of more veteran gamers who will team up for a two vs two game wherein they battle of a major objective to be included in the final assault. How these two are chosen can be freely decided among the respective teams. This would be more along the lines of the 2000 pt. army we're used to seeing. This would be a critical battle for something of enormous importance, like securing a series of bunkers to protect troops during the final assault.
Some ideas for major objectives:: Capture Relic (Make a random roll in the Champion's Army Codex for a unique item he can use.) Secure Bunkers (Place extra fortified terrain on champion's side after choosing sides and before deployment.)
Tier 3:: Champion This is the sole position which will be occupied by what I'm guessing will be the biggest and most badass player either side can muster. He will not participate in the first round of games, but will hold his own against the opposing team's champion in the final assault. This is the big boy, so I'm thinking at least 2500 pts, maybe even 3k if the Champion's can muster it.
Personally I would love to see this happen. I think it will be a great way to have everyone really feel like a team without having to crowd us all on one table. It will also make for a potentially large scale battle that can be concluded in a single day.
