I expect to use 5 edition rules unless there is some game-breaking machanic that makes the game literally unplayable.

The board layout was just a starting point, you would have to make the game objectives and set up rules even things out. You could have the game be a 4-vs-4 and force the nid players to each set up on a different flank, evening out the attack. If one of these players stacked his force with fasts as you said it would be a limited size, not all 4 armies worth. As far as the Lictors, as long as they didn't take a dozen of them they would be manageable. The template issue would hopefully be resolved by the marines making some form of attempt to leave the center and take an objective that is outside their deployment zone (so they could win) I would hope that a portion of each marine army would be deep striking, flank marching etc. to make the game for them less "static" and actually have a movement and assault phase. I'm sure any board type you use will have challenges to try and even out the advantages, Matt just needs to work 'em out. There is also the thought of making the Nids start in the center (surrounding a Hive) and have the marines on the attack, that would almost be more fun to see and not so typical. If you want to have to board be city you still could as the hive mind loves to infiltrate the populated areas. I'd like to revisit this idea. It sounds like fun and very fluffy. How would the Imperials deploy their reserves? Also we should try to arrange another meeting to discuss rules limitations whether we are changing or adding/ditching any from last time and firm up get commitment from people to play.

Just a few ideas..
If the imperials had a city area setup in the center, they could have a marker in the middle that designated the center of the board. Maybe all their Reserves could deploy from that position and them move out from there to help fortify the defense.
Tyranids could come in from any board edge from reserves and continue to swarm the city in the center.
There could be a couple objectives in the city, and a couple outside also.
Make the objectives worth certain points, like the objectives in the city would give the tyranids 1 point each at the end of the game, 2 points each if they also controlled their outer objectives. the reverse for the marines, the objectives outside the city would be worth 1 point each, or 2 points if the imperials also controlled their city objectives.
The boards could be setup in a large square shape, and the center could use multiple buildings or ruins to make a city area with streets and fortifications, the outer areas where the tyranids started would have rocky outcropping and forests, down tanks etc to help provide them cover.

Again let me remind you guys, Matt started this with the Intent of playing a game where the whole table was a city and I believe he still plans on doing so (as of sunday at least).
I think his idea was an L shaped table with 2 deployments zones for each team. He said he will post something more detail in the next coming days. he has been busy moving to his now apratment.
Also, lets plan on an information meeting sometime near the end of June begining of July

We have any update on this?
I am working on a Custom Data sheet and new Apocalypse model for the Tyranids plus i bought a city box and created many buildings. We still planning on a city style fight?
Just want to know some details so I know what projects I need to finish before the game.

I spoke with Matt and he said he would post something this week. Yes he said its still going on. There was some uncertainty about the number of "bug" players attending but that seemed to be relieved when we spoke with some people in person and got a consensus.
He has been busy with life so cut him some slack. Still looking at what was announced earlier in this post. For those that cant read here it is again.
Doug, I guess I will take it a step further on Matts behalf and can I have you ask Travis if we could use his space for this event again? Please get back to Matt or I.
Again....If you have any issues about the time/date or wont make it speak up now so you can be replaced.
I expect t hings to pick up now that we are getting closer to the date. Also keep in mind, im just helping, not running this event. But I would be more than happy to pass any questions onto matt.
I suppose we should have a informational meeting on the sundays coming up....I doubt everyone will be able to make it becuase not everyone reads these boards but lets look at August 10th Sunday for the meeting that will give you all 4 weeks to prepare/plan. The rules/setup/etc will be up for discussion and any questions. ALSO any MADE UP rules/formations or questions should be brought up at this meeting.
Matt I hope you read this and are able to attend the meeting.
