I am all for understanding that your going to have tournaments at a game store, duh.
But we are talking about all day tournaments every other weekend, and now there is talk of them happening every weekend.
Its one thing to walk in on a sunday and there is a tournament, ok not a big deal.... running a tournament each weekend till mid january? yeah.... but hey the league players get dibs is what is sounds like, and since players knew about this months in advance... i guess we should have used that time to find another store to game and spend at?

Brian you are wrong on this one and here is why.
1) You have been given the same opportunity to participate as anyone else. I have encouraged you to participate.
2) Part of the emphasis in this discussion has been to preserve the ability of payers to be able to find free space and get in casual games. It is important.
3) But...leagues do take precedence. Have you ever bowled, played softball, etc? You dont just show up at a park or at an alley and expect there to be space for you. I bowled when I was growing up and on saturdays and most sundays open lanes were a rarity, they were usually filled by league players. Go to Cobbs Hill in the summer, you cant expect to get an open field when leagues are being played. Like it or not league players take priority.
I do like you and want you around. I wish you would participate. I do see where we are trying to balance the leagues need for space against the need for open gaming space.

Has anyone asked the H&R block(head) people if we can use their space?
I remember once upon a time before I started showing up that Da Boyz played in that space on the weekends. Access got cut off because something allegedly got busted or something of a more trivial nature.
Anyways, maybe enough time has passed that we could re-open a dialogue with them. Just a thought.

Good question James. They used to run tournaments over there when tax season was over, I dont know if we are allowed to and I know there was a reason why we stopped having them over there. I will ask Alex or Shaun next time I see them.

I'm happy to help with set up if someone doesn't mind stopping in either Gates or Henrietta to pick me up.

I definitly understand brian's concern on this, and i think things will to some degree just work themselves out. Not everyone will show to each sunday event and thus set up there own match times, and room will be made for others to play especialy in the case of brian who is around most of the time to play and everyone gets along with great. And there gonna be small list games for most of the first half of the league and wont take up all that much time. In order to keep what im saying valid the tourney should be everyother week and 1 game each day of the event. Sure its easy enough to slam 4 games down the first sunday, but anyone who's army is broken at 400 points is gonna be able to max there advantage where the bigger style armys wont shine till later in the league when its 1 game a day. I Think if this is kept as it originaly was meant to be things will work out fine.

Huh?
No, As of right now there is no plan to deviate in the format from last year. From the input I gathered from last year the format was fine and worked well. We will be sticking to 4 games /day for 400,600, and 800, 3 games per day for 1000+.
Whether you think something is broken, cheesy or over powered at whatever points is all in your own opinions. Opinions are nice and eveyone has them but the claims of this army is cheesy and that one is cheesy is a trivial matter when in a tournement setting. Your not going to stop the power gamers with harsh words, they will still decide to game the way they want, whether its at 400 or 1500 points. Some players are getting too hyped up on what favors what army, step back, take a deep breath and relax. It will all work out in the end just like it did last year.
All this excitment over lower point games, whats going to happen when I start throwing carnivourous plants and pungee traps at you?

Yup, to be honest i could give two flying fux about what the rules are and how things are going to be pointed since im playing just for fun and as motivation to paint more stuff. Im just saying a little consideration for those who can't play in the tourney but come to baldo's to play every sunday with the rest of us wouldnt be the worst idea i've ever heard. But if the rules are stayin exactly the same then that works cuz then it would be every other week.

Im all psyched up for this league, it looks like I will have the initial 400 points painted and even the bases done.
Im not sure about the 200 points painted every 2 weeks, but it will be fun nonetheless.

I have the first 400 painted and am on my way to 600. I've got the bases painted but haven't quite decided the direction I want to go with them, so that will come later. It's nice to be inspired to paint and I'm very much looking forward to the league.
Has the decision been made to stick with the every other week? 1 day before the start, it's getting pretty important to address this.

I had a great time today. Thanks to everyone for showing up to make this event something special. Thanks to Ron for taking on the responsibility of running the missions and the league. And thanks to Tommy for his work to catalog our progress online.

Yeah, I will have to say that I had a blast, and it really did make a big difference seeing great boards and fully painted models (except you K-dawg, shame on you! LOL JK ;D ;D ) on the table. Surprisingly, that did make a big difference. When I played at coyote's den, it was really loose, and I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, but it doesn't really give you any motivation to paint or make your models look impressive. I can't wait until the higher points weeks when there will really be fully painted armies! ESPECIALLY MINE!
