I like how this is looking. It sounds original and fun.
If there's room you can count me in for space wolves. I'll just have to stay away from Chris' Dark Angels, or maybe fight closer to them so I can wipe them out after the bigger Chaos threat has been eliminated. ;D
I do have a question though. And I want to be clear that I'm simply trying to get clarification. At 729 points an Ancients assault force gives you 3 dreadnaughts and a techmarine, It also gives your army flank march.
If flank march is being limited to only one unit, is there an alternative strategic asset or other benefit to paying the extra 200+ points and having to come on the table in a nice line for the opponents shooting phase?
It only makes the difference between my possibly taking the formation and instead either taking something else, or keeping the near 300 points for something else (~200 for formation and 110 for tech marine).

What was done with Summer Slam was that any unit with Infiltrate or Scout may all come on if Flank march was your assest OR any one unit may come on instead. If a formtion has an Flank march assigned to them then they also could use that flank march in addition to what is already flank marching per the Stratagem.
It seemed like a good compromise to me at the time, I would like to suggest perhaps keeping that suggestion put forth by Courtney and using it. What do you think Doug?

I agree that flank marching an entire army wouldn't be much fun for my opponent, and I wouldn't do that anyway.
The scouts/infiltrators flank marching only with the asset brings up another interesting question.. What about "behind enemy lines" rule for Space Wolf scouts? It says they can choose to come in on the opponent's board edge. Not quite the same as flank march, but they don't have to roll for which edge like normal infiltrators would (using standard infiltrate rules), they can either infiltrate like other infiltrators, or come in from the opponents board edge, behind their lines.

If you take a formation that also gives you additional assets it is fine but no shorting of points to gain additional strategems. As for units that come with an asset like the dreadnaught/techmarine formation, the flank march will only apply to that particular unit. Flank march as an asset will only apply to one vehicle and the unit contained inside not your entire army. The executioner force with all the assassins will most likely be disallowed for this game. We have come to see how broken taking 4-5 eversor assisins become. The whole point is to have a friendly narrative type game not to see how nasty you can metagame your army and assets together against you opponents.

You know I am down to bring Chaos.
soleman, i would just bring the dreadnoughts and techmarine and skip the formation. Although ploping them near the enemy would be nice, for the price might be best to add another unit somewhere else. But Deffinatly bring some venerable dreads, they are a fun unit

You missed this part when you quoted me Doug. This is more fun than the extra asset, anyway.
I'll definitely bring Dreadnaughts. (I'll need to to make up the points), I just can't see the point in taking the squad with the limitations in place. It's cool though, I agree that flank marching an entire army is a bit broken. But there was another unit or two that would have been to bring in.
But what about the space wolf scout rule, is that still allowed in this game?

Slaneesh- Pink-Norton (i would assume he is playing)
Tzeentch- Blue-ME!
This game will be fun to play just to see the radically different colored armies on both sides!

For the loyalists I'd like to see: Imperial Fists--Terry(Me) Ultramarines--Tommy Black Templars--James(the good one) Dark Angels--Chris??(Solstice??) Been awhile since i was at the store. Grey Knights--ShortBus? Alternates could be Orville,and Courtney. The good guys have been getting their a s s handed to them, Id like for us to get on the ball and end the losing streak.

If i understand what you want correctly Doug, you will allow us to bring more that 2500 points, so long as someone on the other side follows suit?
Example, I bring 500 points worth of Apoc stuff, and terry does the same.
you would be ok with this?
