I agree with you IW, there is no need to change the rules to make one person happy.
IT IS THEIR TOURNAMENT!!!!!
Did anyone ever think there might be young players that that do not have painted armies and cannot compose their force the way god emporeur Tommy would like? Nothing more "fair" then going to their tourney, dropping down "our" rules so most of them are screwed before the first dice roll. Tell you what for GAGG do what you would like, I am fine with that, but change these rules last minute and count me out. Just my $.02.

the scoop,
Coyote's den can comfortably fit 16 players though we managed to fit in 18 once. As far as turnout is concerned i have three diffinates and then the usual players...i'm guessing 8 total. I would be thrilled to see some new players but, we will not be able to fit everyone from Syracuse and Rochester. Let me know if there is any more i can do.

OK that may pose a problem then. If more show up than you have room for what will happen? People will be left out? I certainly dont want people to travel to this and be left out, that would suck. Right now it looks like. DOug, Doug's #@$$%!! Kid, Mike W,Me, Orville, Tom, Foser, Possibly Norton? So we 7-8 going so far.
DO you want to limit how many from Roch and Syracuse can go?

You guys should do a sign up sheet for everyone who wants to come using this forum. It should be first come first serve everyone has to sign themselves up.
-or-
Draw names out of a hat then rotate every tournament, people who want out can say so then the next person up can take his place.
This is an idea but doesn’t really solve the problem. . .

Ducky, tell us how many spots you have for the Rochester guys and we will work it out for ourselves. If there are 8 spots open, we will fill them, if there is overflow I can bow out as well, that way we save on gas and aggrivation.

Not going to this one, but I thought I would comment on the soft score issue.
Who says the soft score has to be tied to the battle score. IE...who says it has to hose those who don't work it. I go to see hoe my painting matches up in a competition, but I wouldn't care if my painting helped my battle scores or not. I'd be happy with it as a seperate, but assosciated contest. Same could be said for Comp.
As for adding these scores to the den's tournies, obviously it is their decision, not ours. If they like the idea, they can use it. If not, they can tell us to stick it in as nice a tone as they deem fit. One thing I would point out about soft scores in response to doug. They can often help players who aren't as strong strategically. Yes, they can hurt players who don't have painting skill, or who don't have the models to match comp...but they help a lot for those learning tactics still.
Also, Tommy, that list suck in my opinion. Some aprts are cool, but a true fluffy army built to a theme could be hosed. I hold up my rangers as an example. Sure, I do great in some areas, but in staying true to the theme, I get hosed in others. (Although the Krot Shaper HQ does sound like it might be a nice addition) I lose 11 points in not easily correctible ways. This promotes vanilla armies and hurts the thematic armies. I'd rather see more themes than vanilla. I hate facing the same army over and over again.

Altough I dont think Toms idea should be used in the upcoming tournement at Coyotes, I do like the way its planned out. This will hurt the power/meta gamers and help out the others. However there are a few instances where it hurts the other people. I like the list I just think it needs a few points looked at before implementing it.

Nice post Gabe, here I was all set to flame you for comments on a tourney since you weren't taking place in but by the end of your post I couldn't agree with you more.
The biggest problem with soft scores is no two people see things the same. I think the only fair way to do them is have an independent judge (ie. tournament organizer, not player) do the grading. What Gabe thinks is good painting and what I think is good may not be the same. My 3 out of 4 and his 3 out of 4 mean totally different things in scoring. Also I am getting tired of facing players in tourneys who downgrade me for my painting and sportmanship because they didn't get a win from me. I am a nice guy to play, never try to hose anyone or bend rules, but I NEVER finish anywhere near the top for scoring in soft score. If there is something I am missing, please explain it to me. Yes, I know I am an ass, but when playing in the tourneys, I do hold back and try my best to make the games enjoyable for everyone involved.
As for the proposed 11 hour changing of their rules, while I like comp and painting in some tourneys, but I feel it is wrong to change their system last minute for our benefit. I seee it no other way since I see how it will negatively impact many players (my son using his new army is one example, and I am sure most of the Den's players as well) while benefitting only a few people.

As for setting up new scoring with Tom and Bobby, I have no problem wow your opinion changed strongly. I only posted my idea here cause i was asked to. No F*&^ING softs score. This is there tourneament and I am sick and tired of getting hosed by softscore. I personally am more tired of not being able to take a fair and balanced list that would stress tactics because i have to load it with uber cheese to keep it competative. I have to load it with the uber cheese because there are no soft scores to penalize the power players that drag some of the fun out of the game and make the army list more important than choices in the game. but that may be just me. I should however start a separate discussion on soft scores in general. I am willing to play however the organizers think they wanna do things

HEALTH ALERT! I'M SERIOUS!
The Coyote's Den is a novelty story with allot of fragrant items being sold there like PO Peri type items, incense (which is sometimes burned), stuffed animals that smell nice & an what ever.
If you have allergies, asthma or any kind of repertory problems, make sure you bring what's necessary.
I don't anticipate any problems, it's a vary clean store.
Just be prepared!
P.S. AT THE END OF THE DAY YOU AND YOUR MODELS WILL SMELL JUST LIKE THE COYOTE'S DEN.
