Hey I am free this Sunday for the last time in a while so I thought let's start on making terrain. This will be a good time to start talking tournament and work out a few of the bugs while we make some cool stuff.
Thanks, Boldo

Sound like a plan Lord Boldo. Count on seeing Brian and I there.
I had an idea for making a dead Phoenix. All I need is a bird or two, some lighter fluid, etc. I can bring the stuff I need, any idea where to get the birds?..LOL

Do you want us to bring stuff in or do you have stuff there?

Bring the stuff Courtney put on the bottom of his terrain. They are kind like bases. I dont know if cardboard would work or not. We should put the buildings on those.

On a side note, not related to brian and trying to keep this post on track, Needing bases for buildings is a MUST, at least in 40k. So either large sheets of thin plastic or whatever....if you know where to get them at or anything that would work as a base for several buildings I would be happy to bring in a few sheets or whatever. Ideas?

That is what Brian was talking about Ron. It is thin particle board like material that is available at local lumber store. Norton know what it is. I bought a sheet for around $4.00 at Lowes.

I refuse to acknowledge that brian has anything relevant to say regarding this situation. Partical board? eh, not very sure that will work too well. Lowes? Wheres that? Any where near me?

DON'T UNDER ESTIMATE THE USE OF PLASTIC SHEETING OR SOFT PINE WOOD 1/16 1/8 OR EVEN 3/16 OF AN INCH FOR BASES. FOR THE AMOUNT OF TIME IT TAKES MAKING LANDSCAPING CARD BOARD ISN'T THAT GREAT. BUILD THINGS THAT WILL LAST AND ARE EASY TO REPAIR. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE GOING TO USE THE BOXES OF PLASTICS I DROPPED OF SUNDAY, YOU'LL NEED EXACTO KNIVES, HACK SAWS, DERMAL TOOLS, FILES SANDPAPER, SUPER GLUE JELL, ACCELERATOR WOULD HELP A LOT AND 2 PART EPOXY FOR LARGE AREA COVERAGE. DENSE PACKAGING FOAM, LIKE THE SAMPLE BLOCK I BROUGHT IN IS REALLY GREAT TO WORK WITH. AND PLEASE SOMEONE MAKE SURE THERE IS A GOOD FIRST AID KIT ON HAND. I COULD LIST A TON OF OTHER STUFF, IT MIGHT JUST BE EASIER TO TALK ABOUT IT THURSDAY NIGHT. THE FAMILY WANTS BACK ON, GOTTA GO! PARTICAL BOARD IS OK, BUT CAN BE A PROBLEM OVERTIME DEPENDING ON WHAT KIND OF GLUE YOU'RE WORKING WITH!

Masonite works good too. I use it for a flat surface when I'm drawing. Nice and sturdy but lightweight.

It might be partical board or hard board. What you are looking for is 1/8" thick. One side is smooth and the other side has a rough texture to it. The texture is nice gaming because if you hit by mistake it does not slide across the table. MMMM was this building here or here before i bump it.
You can pick it up at lowes or Home depot. it comes in 2x2 2x4 4x4 and 4x8 sheet sizes. The bigger the more money you save, but you have to cut it yourself. I can loan some power tools to cut it. if my wife lets me out i will come down this sunday and cut up a bunch. This is what i used for all my terrain bases. It takes paint well and does not seam to warp.

MASONITE IS GOOD, VERY FLAT AND COMES IN 1/8 INCH THICKNESS I BELIEVE. IT'S NOT THAT LIGHT, HARD TO CUT. THE RUFF SIDE IS BETTER TO WORK WITH THAN THE SMOOTH SIDE FOR LANDSCAPE MODELS. ARTS USE THE SMOOTH SIDE SIDE FOR OIL & ACRYLIC PAINTING.
SHOULD BE ABLE TO PURCHASE IT FROM THE HOME DEPOT, LOEWS AND SOME ART SUPPLY STORES.
TRY GETTING A SMALL SHEET 2' x 4', GET AN IDEA OF TEXTURE AND HARDNESS, YOU'LL PROBABLY CHOOSE TO CUT IT WITH A JIG SAW, BAND SAW OR TABLE SAW.
AFTER PROJECT IS COMPLETED, ALWAYS PUT PRIMER DOWN BEFORE PAINTING.
DIDN'T SEE JAY'S POSTING, THE PRIMER KEEPS PAINT USAGE DOWN, (IT SUCKS IT UP).
