Ask Skythe. He's been trying for a few years now. Funny...Just proof that you don't actually listen to what I (Or it seems anyone else who disagrees) say. I don't try to change how you play. If you paid attention to the lists that I actually used, it'd be pretty apparent that my style isn't all that different. I take issue with insinuations that people who play differently are bad people, which is all too common here. I also take issue with false information and hypocracy. Then I start taking ad hominum attacks, then piling on with more of the same. Congradulation, that more than anything else has driven me out of playing 40k. I play to have fun, and it's not really possible to have fun in a poisonous atmosphere.

I don't try to change how you play. If you paid attention to the lists that I actually used, it'd be pretty apparent that my style isn't all that different. I believe this is the point I've been trying to make. Until Chumba actually meets us and plays us a bit, he can't know if we truely do things differently. Yes, we use comp, but from what I've read, the types of lists he talks about bringing aren't all that different from what we talk about. I've never gone out to attack anyone. If my comments are viewed that way, then I'm sorry. If you read my comment, you'd see that I do listen to other viewpoints. The whole point of what I was saying is that while I've listened, I do not share the other viewpoint. Basically, I'm saying I agree to disagree and that's where it's likely to stand. I look forward to meeting Chumba in person and getting in some games. Not likely with my schedule, but I still look forward to it. I've never had a problem facing you either Skythe. I don't see how my comments can be construed as attacks. Frustration maybe. Oh well. Such is the way of message boards.

Ranger dude is right about our gaming community and their skill level with comp lists. March's 1850 tourney at MG brought in 32 players and the winner, Chris, played a Tyranid list with no duplicates or triplicates and went undefeated.
I'm also new to the scene and later saw Chris playing a fully painted Dark Eldar army with upwards of 10 skimmers. Knowing now that he chose a comp friendly and arguably weaker codex army (a DE player took 2nd in SoCal Slaughter and won a golden ticket to Gamesday while no Tyranid lists placed in the top 10) and bested a field of 32 people when he could have played a raider/ravager spam list made me respect him even more.
We really do have an unusual amount of talented players (and painters) locally and I'm glad our competative environment is dominated by people who favor diverse lists. Personally, I'd get bored quickly facing leafblower lists, razorback/longfang spam, raider spam, and lash/oblit lists every time I wanted to compete.

Honestly, I would only really trust two of Daboyz (Shaun or Jay) to give me an honest comp score should I show up to an event. You spelled DOUG and RON wrong! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D OMFG this thread is still alive! To quote Nancy Kerrigan after getting her knee whacked..." WHY??? WHY? " I tell you what Chumby if this thread makes it to 100 pages I will personally push to drop all comp, OK? BTW who won tuesday, you or Horst?

Especially after what happened at the last DaBoyz GT that I was at where you judged comp. Most people would think that a (4th edition) dual Monolith min Warrior Necron list was pretty nasty...Funny how when it's used by your son, it gets one of the highest comp scores at the tourney...

Yeah, terrible judge of comp. Thats why you also got a top comp score of 29 and the highest got a 33 Give me a break Skyth. Though I agree Biran L shouldnt have gotten the comp score he did (thats just my opinion) There were *2* judges scoring comp that year. Other than that the comp was pretty much spot on. BTW let me mention this again, more apparently: DOUG gave YOU a GOOD comp score at the GT you went to. Your right, he should have looked at the name on the list and tanked your score becuase he doesnt like your opinions. (for those that dont get it, note the sarcasm).

I was surprised by how high my comp score was...Especially since the list I used is one I liked and well represented my style of play Based on a purely power perspective, I would have rated mine lower than I got. But what my scores were is largely immaterial to my current point. (Reinforces another point I like making though...That Comp here isn't based on the power of the army, so combining Comp with Battle to determine the Best General award doesn't make sense). As for the two judges thing...Even though I don't quite trust Tommy (Sorry Tommy...You haven't given me any actual reason that I can think of...I'm not sure why I don't to be honest)...Who is more likely to give someone a much higher comp score than they deserve? A relation or not a relation? Not to mention, I heard rumors that Brian's comp score was one that the judges differed the most on.

Just trying to help get to 10 pages hehe (J/K)
I would think if they give you the requirement for scoring on comp up front there will be no suprises. Problem solved?

ok, since someone pulled me in, ill chime in.
my list at that gt was good comp. maybe not that good, but still good
my list was not minimum warriors. i had 900 points of warriors, give me a f*ckin break. I did have 2 monoliths, but lets see. the tourney was 2150 pts(?), so i think its okay that i took a second vehicle in my list. Is that any worse than you taking duplicate vehicles?
how about that squad of pariahs i had. name the last time you saw anyone take pariahs. i also took flayed ones.
My list wasnt THAT over the top. If it was, then BOTH judges would have gave me bad comp. Both of their scores were within two points of eachother for everyones score. I believe for this one, tommy's was higher.
Don't be bitter that I played better than you, and that people actually liked me in the process. If youre really gonna be such a b*tch about it, dont come, and stay the hell out of this. its as simple as that!

Unless you didn't put all the warriors out for painting judging, there were only 20 when I checked out the army.
