Dark Eldar, Sisters and Tau can put out very competitive armies. DH can do well with IG allies. But, due to their age, only a handful of units and loadouts are useful, so they would suffer much more under a comp system than IG or SW, who have tons of viable options everywhere.

Couple things
Shilkelegen, sorry if I spelled that wrong. On forums, I just use my given name so that everyone knows who I am. I guess we haven't met. So rather then me, talking about you, without knowing who you are. I will say that your statements, about me, are incorrect and out of line. I have been called many things, but lazy isn't one of them. As far as avoiding tough subjects, maybe one of the senior player's can advocate for my not doing that either. The player's in this community, that play regularly, know that I do as much for this hobby, as I can. At the end of the day, the bigger this community is the better for me, Alex, Shaun and everyone else with finances invested in it. They also know that there will be more time for me to address certain issues after the renovations are done in my store. So here's my challenge to you. I will pay you $500.00 for a copy of a comp system that every player in our events will be happy with. You are free to use my store any hours that we are open for meetings to discuss the topic(Mon-Sat 10 -10, Sun 11-8). Send me a PM offline if you need anything else.
Thanks

Here is one idea: Millenium for no composition and Da Boyz for composition. i dont know if you have attended any of the tournament at millennium because im not totally sure who you are but... if you have, chances are you played on a table brought to the tournament by one of 'da boyz'... even better chances are that you even played against one of 'da boyz'... the point is that many of the main contributors and CONSISTENT 40K PLAYERS in the area are considered to be a part of 'da boyz', and as doug said in the last thread, most of those players support the idea of comp scores in tournaments... trying to seperate these people from millennium tournaments is basically impossible

Here is a thought to redirect the discussion and better clarify my position on comp.
Some people think of comp as something that restricts play and disallows certain unit, models, etc. I think of it in a different way. I believe a good comp score should be akin to a handicapping score that is commonly used in bowling or golf. In a handicapped event this allows both good and average players to compete on a more level playing field. Thoughts?
BTW great challenge Travis but that is $500 that will never be paid out, not due to your unwillingness to pony up the money, but we all know its an impossible task! Most people cannot even agree on whether or not to use comp let alone a "perfect" system.

I have a perfect comp system travis. 1-2 HQ (4 for SW and some times Daemons) 0-3 Elites 2-6 Troops 0-3 Fast Attack 0-3 Heavy Support All choices in the Codices are legal and any army made using it is a-ok. People who can make and use their lists well win, and those who can't can practice and get better or just go for painting awards Where's mah money? ;D SoB, That would be an improvement: rewarding compy armies without punishing others. Positive > negative reinforcement. I would say maybe something like using comp to determine matchups so a weaker, compy army doesn't go up against a super optimized army and get smoked. Mix it up at the end and we'll see who triumphs. Or, we could do a checklist-type or panel-judged comp and match up armies with similar scores and then later on use the comp differential as like a "bonus" score for the compier list. Obviously the system would have to be transparent and comprehensive so certain uncommon or variant lists don't fall through the cracks and get boned needlessly.

It is not that hard. I called you out because it was deemed necessary. Calling someone out is not illegal as far as I know. That challenge will go unmet just because I do not live there, otherwise I would take that $500 dollars from you for sure. Courage and Honour

Hey hey Hey,
Relax there Shilek,
Travis is an upstanding individual both as a Store owner and a member of the 40k community here in Rochester. He was just stating that GW (the company that makes our game) Doesnt support comp, sports, painting or any other soft scores (anymore - They used to.) There is no need to attack his character, I and everyone else that actually know him will vouch for him. He has never been one to flee from a challange and infact he has held MANY meetings about how comp should be handled at his store. I for one appluad him for doing so. At least he is attempting to uphold something that GW has decided to drop becuase "its too hard".
This is getting old and reading the same garbage over again is getting nauses for me. Comp...Not every ones going to agree.
Something I thought was funny:
"You know what, Power gamers are just the evil put here to ruin our fun. They are the work of the devil to advocate all that is wrong with the game. They try to exploit, sneak and worm thier way in and around the rules so they can maximize thier chances of winning. They are Satans right and left hands in the gaming community, they care not for you, my brother gamer or you my sister gamer. They are here to feed thier own selfish needs. To rape our rules and fill our ears with talk about how comp is bad. Ooooh and they will preach until blue in the face about how soft scores arent nessacary!
The power gamer is a blight upon any god loving gamer. He ruins our fun with his lists, He plays unpainted models and sullies our sight with primed figurines. He belchs uncontrably across the table and laughes at you when your dice go afoul, tainted by thier filth and closeness to this heathen of a gamer. I pray for you Brothers and Sisters that you never have to stand across the table from this beast. For it is a wretched creature full of sin.
Pride - that they can beat upon new players becuase thier lists are superior,
Greed - All the want to do is win! They dont care whether you have fun or not.
Sloth - They stand idley around not wanting to change or challange themselve with any notion of a soft score.
Lust - They take delight or pleasure in depriving you of your hard earned cash so they can rape your army on the table.
Gluttony- They wish to gorge themselves on the prizes they reap from thier winning. Adding more and more to thier ever rising piles of unpainted or primed minis.
Envy- If you do manage to beat this beast they themselfs do feel envy because you had beaten them with what in thier eyes they consider an inferior list.
Wrath - If they do not win, they will come back again with an even more powerful build to take reveng upon those that did somehow beat them, claming it was merely luck that they lost.
I emplore you Brothers and sisters, we are what is right in the gaming world. I urge you to meet these foul creatures with Temperance, Chastity, Charity, Diligence, Patience, Kindness and Humility.
A-men my fellow gamers. Go in peace and may the Dice gods keep you safe from this evil"
I found this funny. Just wanted to share. ;Dx7
