actually guys posting rules is like posting the contents of a codex, its copyright infringement.
They dont even allow it on the GW forums.
A larger point is we must insure Brian actually reads the rules.
Not trying to have a god complex, sorry if it seems that way.

I think another way to see this problem in in these terms: GT/Tournament lists vs. "Fun" lists
Daboyz have made a name in placing exceedingly well in various GT's and regional tournamensts. The idea is TO WIN, so the lists will border on being called "power- gamer" or "Cheezy".Let's be honest , fluff has no place in the list if the idea of tornament level play is to WIN!.
Fun lists , or games amongst yourselves, brings up what I see as the main problems(It happens here in Tucson too.) : -playing your same list over and over until it is rock hard -same army comp over and over, even using differnt scenarios -never changing/using different units -never going under 1850 or over 2000 pts.
Part of the problem that is unique to Boldo's/Daboyz is your size. Rochester is a small market and it hinders your getting "new blood". Second , you have a major and minor league distinction: Millenium players vs. Boldo's players. And third is the inherent problem amongst club players. You each continually play each other so many times that one upmanship is bound to occur.By playing so much you each become so good that new and more powerful(ie Cheezy/Powergamish) techniques have to be brought in just to keep it exciting and fun to play.
Just my 2 cents...

Hello all,
Good to see the board is back up and have had an interesting time reading this post. Especially since I believe I was the one who wrote the original "rant" on the old board on DaBoyz.
From the couple of times I have caught up with you guys over the last couple of years, I do think the trend is headed back toward power-gaming. I think this is in part to new rules for the game and the emphasis by GW in winning in tournaments.
When I first started playing in Roch and going to GTs and RTs, soft scores had a much stronger influence on the game. Dare I say there was a time when Winning Overall meant and almost equal emphasis on Winning + Painting + Comp... imagine that an overall winner who was good overall... what a concept.
Comp will always be a difficult thing to judge, personally I think at the big tournaments it should be a combination of judge's scores and opponents scores. I also think Comp should be combined with Sportsmanship into one grade.
I suggest you also try doing some simple modes in the local tournaments that to shake things up. Out here my store did a series of 1500 pt games. It was some of the best tournament play I have had in years and puts a good spin on the game. One mistake or lost unit can really do you in and if forces you to think more.
Also, I like the idea mentioned above about restricting units. Try an event where you are limited to 1 HQ for everyone, or everyone must have 40% on troops or must used 50% of their point total on troops just to enter. Keep it simple or you end up with too many rules (and you might as well call yourself a Canadian GT).
