Your world thought it was alone in the universes. And human life was unlikely to ever touch but the edge of space in your lifetime Your world’s space shuttles are plagued with problems and faster than light travel is science fiction. Then ships arrived proving you all wrong.
Your world made its first contact with ships from across the stars. A mile long ship circled your world then broad cast in multiple languages demands that your population surrender and that its military prepare to be conscripted into the armies of their "God-Emperor." Even more shocking that that, other than some cybernetic technology the aliens making these demands appeared to be human. (The military officer broadcasts this from in front of a flag with a two headed bird)
Your world’s nation states stood quiet until the leader of the state with the most powerful military of your world swaggers up to broadcast that his nation and his world will never give up their freedom and liberty. He would oppose the aliens with all of the resources at his disposal.
This is followed by a "weather satellite" blowing up the ship using the dozens of high megaton nuclear missiles it happens to be secretly armed with.
Armed forces of your world prepare for an inevitable counter attack that came six months later. Troops landed and your world fought for its cities against alien humans equipped with weapons of science fiction, their tanks are impervious to all but your most powerful weaponry, Tactically the aliens fight years behind you. Somehow your worlds air forces remain in control of the sky. Your world fought off the first invasion force. Your nuclear missiles eventually destroy all but one of the invaders ships. That is a small escort ship which is taken by the marines of your world. (You have no clue how they boarded it.)
Your world sent groups of explorers, soldiers, diplomats, and scientists are assigned to that ship which looked for help among the stars, They were sent retrieve alien technology, contact friendly aliens and if they can and finding a way to save your world from the next alien attack.
The fortune’s of your world have been mixed since entering space. The first friendly aliens you found (The Weren) were barely using primitive fire arms such as flintlock muskets. They too were under assault from the God-Emperor’s forces. They however had access to technology and defenses installed by a third alien race (The Fraal) The field team who made contact with the Weren were able to raise their high tech defenses and track the Fraal to a satellite outpost to make contact with them.
With the technology taken from the invaders and a little from the Fraal the United States was able to begin production on its first armed space ships. The Drake class explorer, Sparrow Hawk fighters and Valkyrn heavy fighters. Their technology is primitive compared to the God-Emperor’s ships but they are your first steps.
The USAF “Drake” responded to a distress call from a world with a human population. Their people were even more primitive than the Weren but had access to some of the Fraal communication equipment. Their people were being enslaved by the God-Emperor’s forces and forced to mine. A rescue operation was conducted in exchange for the Fraal’s equipment. The mission went bad only their field leader Lieutenant Stukov reported back to the extraction point. Some of his forces he reported missing others dead.
Captain Harris commander of the USAF “Drake” ordered a search and rescue be performed and assembled some of his best men. Captain Foser fighter pilot and main pilot of the extraction vessel. Private Hagbard army Rangers field scientist. Private Kantor army Rangers commando. Private First Class Magnus army Rangers specialty exploration and field medic. Lieutenant Stukov field officer and assigned leader of Army Rangers field forces once they hit planet side. All have been equipped with arms and equipment befitting their specialty all according to us army/air force standards.
-+-
Sergeant Drake you woke with a gasp. The white light that you were approaching turning into a grim face of an bald man with glowing eyes toughing your chest. Without a thought you leaped up at the man smashing into his heavily armored form sending him into a wall. You looked around and saw your weapons and gear nearby. You grabbed your gear and your guns. Quickly you put a round from your 9mm into the armored man. You don’t think it killed him but ran for it anyway.
Blindly you raced through the halls of some underground bunker. You came across the cells of Tien Xhou Wong and Habib. Two shells from your Shot Gun freed them. The three of you split up each of you trying to make it out to get help. You got out of the bunker complex and down the side of a glacier it was carved into. Since then you have been hiding in a mining town named Delver’s Dale.
Sergeant Drake you have been hiding here for two weeks. Recently you have picked up on radio chatter from “Valkyrn One” he has been searching this area recently. Your squad radio has not been strong enough to make contact yet.
-+-
Captain Foser you are flying low across the planets rugged landscape in one of the Drake’s two escort heavy Valkyrn fighters. You conduct your next sweep of the planet below searching for survivors from the initial landing party. Your co-pilot is a field tech Private Hagbard. Working the comms and sensors is Private Magnus and Lieutenant Nikoli Stukov the field commander of the missing soldiers. Lieutenant Stukov is brusk and uncomfortable you can tell he does not like to fly. Private Kantor is in the back ready to disembark, You peek back at him and he seems to be checking his rifle.
There have been multiple sweeps of the planet between the landing party’s initial extraction point and the glacier fortress they were lost in. This is the first of the air sweeps over the land on the other side of the glacier. “Valkyrn One calling field team is anyone there?”
Private Magnus adjust the ship sensors as best he can. (Computer Use (1d20)+3: 9,+3 Total:12) He does not seem to get anything extra from the sensors. He was hoping to detect the high tech components in Tien Xhou Wong’s gear.
Lieutenant Stukov shouts out “I got something,” from the comm. Station. “Its Sergeant Drake, He is alive and hiding in the town at the bottom of the glacier. He says he’s down on ammo and will require assistance to get out.” The Lieutenant looks up at the pilot. Which will it be you landing or will we be parachuting?
Private Magnus says that he recommends the stealthier approach. “Land the Fighter , we extract. Sergeant Drake and are back before anyone knows. With luck we may be able to look around a bit and locate some of the other missing crew.”
What say you crew?

phew! it's about d@mn time those idiots from the ship manage to send a rescue party. two weeks in a frozen wasteland hiding in a hole in the ground and killing overgrown rats with my combat knife to keep from dying.
well, at least the russian managed to get back and find some help. guess he's not useless after all.
everyone's either dead or working on it. its fraggin' cold. i want a warm blanket and some bad, stale space food. hope they show up soon, got 5 shots left in the pistol. i can use that 'cuz i scrounged a silencer off some of the leftover equiptment from the party, but the shotgun's too noisy.
bagged two of them 'imperial' b@stards on a patrol already.
it's cold. i hate the cold.
** i take watch, as long as i can stay awake**

Lighting up a stimulant stick, knowing I'm not supposed to be smoking in the ship, I smile and call back to the crew.
"We found one. This is where the fun begins!" Speaking more to Captian Harris than anyone else, " I agree on the stealthy approch although buzzing the town sounds like a good time."
"Lieutenant, any thought thoughts on a location to put this baby down so that we can go in on foot. Some place nice and quiet. I don't want any scratches on Lisa while we are gone."
(I turn the ship back toward the town and help look for a good landing spot; hugging the landscape whenever possible)

Sergeant Drake you wake from your brief slumber. Its cold colder than it should be. You wake to the trudging march of feet to the west. Those imperial soldiers are forcing the towns people to work the mines again. About 100 feet west is a mine entrance just beside that entrance is a small guard house guard houses.
There is room for a few men to eat and keep warm but basically it is just a machine gun nest for those wicked big machine guns they use. There is generally five men at the guard house during the day. There are two similar guard house on the other mine entrance further west along the hill. The guard houses each cover the ends of cliff trails making excellent covering positions. (especially against these villagers only armed with some mining tools.)
Your resting spot is in a densely wooded area just east of the town. You have managed to scrap enough foliage to make an excellent hiding spot even though you have the stealth of a bull in a china shop. You watch the poor villagers today and see them clamber into the mine entrance. Today there is something different Some of the villages people are being but to work running a set of crude pipes and hoses out of the mine shafts. (Spot Roll 10+6 Total:16) Within a hour of their construction they seem to be pumping some sort of silver liquid into a number of metal barrels.
The armored man who you escaped from seem quite pleased when he briefly stops to inspect. He seems satisfied and issues orders to his soldiers before heading south and out of sight. Through the morning you watch barrels fill with the silver liquid while more and more town people are marched into the mines. By mid day most of the village mist be in the mines.
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Captain Foser you set the Valkyrn down quietly a few miles south the glacier and settlement. Quickly you and the crew do your best to cover the ship in a white tarp. You all do your best to hide the girl from unwanted company. Your team makes the stealthiest trek they can until they reach the edge of the settlement by mid day. The village lies across a rapid and freezing cold river of glacier water. To the east there is a covered bridge.
Peering through his binoculars Magnus reports, “There are five soldiers guarding the bridge. No heavy weaponry just riflemen. The covered bridge will give them good cover however and its at least a hundred feet of clearance from the edge of the brush where we can hide to the front of the bridge” (Spot Roll17,+7Total:24) “We could try swimming the river,” he suggests.
Private Hagbard looks at his computer and electronics equipment and shakes his head. “I would have to leave all this behind. And you know how naked I feel without my computer.”
“I got your back if you want to storm the bridge,” reports private Kantor.
Captain Foser you take a look at the rapid moving water. Its about 40 foot across and that water comes strait from the glacier so its going to be cold. (DC 15 swim check allows a ¼ or ½ your move per round) plus a DC15 Fort check against the cold damage and Hypothermia fatigue)
The bridge and river lie between you and your people, Now how to cross?

"Magnus, I have no interest in watching any us dance around out here in the freezing cold, in wet pants... forget swimming that river. I for one would rather not battle the laws of shrinkage."
I adjust my considerable self to illustrate my point.
More to the group, "Not that I have any love for the open ground charge either.... Snipers. Lets take cover over there in that foliage, spread out a bit, choose our targets and take them as much by surprise as we can."
"Whose got a heavy weapon we can hold in reserve?"

Private Magnus screws on his suppressor onto his M4 Carbine. “Spreading out! Wait for me to shoot first.” Private Magnus scampers low and quiet through the foliage. (Hide Roll 13,+2 Total:15) (Move Silent Roll: Take 10+11 Total: 21) Magnus cautiously move away and out of sight.
Private Kantor loads a round into his M203 grenade Launcher. “Sorry Sir this is about the heaviest weapon we got.” He holds up his M16A4 with grenade launcher. “I will dry to do my best to be on target.” Private Kantor starts trudging through the underbrush to get to a firing position. (Hide3,-2Total:1) (Move Silent Roll: 4,-2 Total:2)
Private Hagbard Double checks his M16A4 grabs his field bag and says “Ya know I am more like the tech support of this operation, Really I am lucky that they armed me.” He smiles at Lieutenant Stukov who points toward the bridge with an angry scowl. (Hide: 4,+-7 Total:-3) (Move Silent Roll: 13,+-7 Total:6)
Lieutenant Stukov looks at you and says “That boy has the stealth of a bull in a china shop, lets take position away from him.” He points to an area with a good field of view and points out the best path and recomends you don’t deviate. (Diplomacy: 9,+12 Total:21) Leadership Bonus to Captain Foser’s: Move Silent +4. He then makes his way toward his own shooting spot. (Hide: 15,+2Total:17) (Move Silent Roll: 17,+2Total:19)
Captain Foser makes his way along the path recpmmened by the lieutenant. (Hide: 12,+9Total:21) (Move Silent Roll: 6,+3+4Total:13) He raises his M4 Carbine taking sight of one of the Imperial Guard manning the bridge.
Imperial guard (Spot: 16+3Total:19) (Listen: 8,+2Total:10) They seem tp point to all of you as they dash for cover on the bridge.
“I think we have been spotted, permission to open fire?” Private Magnus asks.
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
Sergeant Drake you continue to watch the Imperial soldiers march people into the mines. You are puzzled at first because they are marching women and small children that they have not made work the mines so far. Then when you see one of their cyborg priests near the opening of the mine you take an even closer look. (Spot: 20+6Total:26)
The Cyborg priest is setting up some sort of explosive devices. Those poor towns folk are marching right past it all entirely oblivious. The people of this world had never seen explosives. They have no idea what these imperial scum must be planning.
You check your ammunintion again 4 clips scrounged for your M4 Carbine, 5 shots on your last clip for your Beretta 92F, and Only 5 shot gun shells left. You load them in the shot gun and disgard the box.
There has not been a radio peep from the rescue party or your fellow field team. Your on your own if you plan to stop a mass execution of these poor towns people.

I turn to Magnus with look of no surprise, " Take cover and fire at will."
"Kantor, I want that grenade to be your first shot, but wait till we've all fired!"
With that said, I flurry my coat, take cover and wait for Magnus to fire the first shot.

Private Magnus replies back. “Affirmative Captain.” A second later blood Sprays from one of the furthest guardsmen from your position. Sadly it looks to be only a flesh wound. (1round Fired 5.56mm)
Captain Foser raises his Carbine and sprays down an area containing two of the closest guardsmen. One seems to be able to duck behind cover the other gets grazed by a few bullets. (10 rounds Fired 5.56mm)
Private hagbard fires at one of the middle guardsmen and strikes one of them despite copious amounts of hard cover between them, (1round Fired 5.56mm)
Two guardsmen fire into the bushes at you but fail to find their mark. Lieutenant Stukof fires back at one of them severely wounding one with an incredibly well placed shot, (1round Fired 5.56mm)
Another two Guardsman fires and miss.
Private Kantor moves forward and fires a fragmentation grenade into the guardsmen Catching two guardsmen in the blast zone. One ducks for cover taking only minor wounds, and the other is hailed in a pray of shrapnel. Seriously injuring him. . (1round Fired 40MM Grenade)
The last guardsman fires and critically injures Lieutenant Stukof. (23 pts damage 12remain) Despite the horrific injury Lieutenant Stukof clings to consciousness.
-+-+-+-+-
Sergeant Drake you wire up a single block of c4 to a remote detonator readying it to be planted. (Demolitions: Take 10,+8Total:18) With Explosive in one hand you grab your Beretta. You hope like hell you can manage to sneak up to the back of the guard post.
Beginning to slowly inch your way there (Hide: 1,+-2 Total:-1) (Move Silent Roll: 8,+-2 Total:6) With the stealth of a bear, you begin making your way east toward the guard post. Keeping low you make it quickly to a set of trees, Then quickly between to small buildings.
Up above you hear movement at the guard post. Someone may have heard you and is now outside the small building. You curse silently. It will be a short climb up the side of the mountain side to get to the guard post. With luck you will be able to plant the bomb were it can do maximum damage. But only if you can get there.
Do you shoot the guard, rush up the hill or continue the long and sneaky. You could lob a grenade and hope to get lucky.

Sergeant Drake you move forward toward the hill side lobbing a smoke grenade ahead of you. (1round Fired Smoke Grenade) You wait a moment then quickly climb the steep hill side and dash to the side of the guard post hoping to keep as much smoke between you and the blinded Imperial soldiers. You are in luck that today the wind is low so your smoke should last a while.
Now you hope that they don’t spot you while you take time to carefully plant the bomb. It takes about a minute to carefully set the bomb (Demolitions: 12,+8Total:20) that done you dash down the side of the hill back behind one of the villages buildings.
You can hear the soldiers all around the guard post frantically looking around as the smoke dissipates. “What was that?” yells one as you ran past him. “Fan out and find whoever that was” shouts the leader. “Bring me the primitive who thinks he can defy the Emperor’s law.”
You are behind a more solid building at the bottom of the hill when you finally stop. Your Beretta is in one hand and your remote detonator in the other.
-+-+-+-+-
Private Magnus squeezes off another sound suppressed round from his hiding spot. But only hits part of the bridge. (2rounds Fired 5.56mm)
Captain Foser you shoot another hail of automatic fire at the area of the closest two guardsmen. You Severely Injure one of them who clings to consciousness and drop another to the ground in a bloody mess. (20 rounds Fired 5.56mm)
Private Hagbard fires again and misses the closest guardsman. (2rounds Fired 5.56mm)
One of the Guardsman fired at however shoots with critical precision back at Private Hagbard. The burning beam of lazer rifle fire burns a horrific wound in the field scientist. (26 points Damage, 9 remain.) Private Hagbard is about to pass out from the pain but barely holds it together. (-1 Action Point)
Another guardsman fires and hits Private Kantor burning a hole into the soldier’s chest. (14 Points Damage 35 remain.)
Lieutenant Stukof fires off two rounds at the guardsmen but fails to hit. He then retreats back out of sight into the woods. “I am far to wounded, backing out!” He reports through his radio. (3 rounds Fired 5.56mm)
The furthest guardsman fires at Private Magnus’ position burning into the explorer with a well placed lazer rifle shot. (16 Points Damage, 20 remain) Private Magnus stays conscious in spite of the pain.
Private Kantor advances, fires and misses the guardsman who just shot him. . (1round Fired 5.56mm & 1 40MM Grenade)

Private Hagbard sees a weakness in his targets defences and attempts to exploit it. He fires again and misses the closest guardsman. (3rounds Fired 5.56mm)
The middle guardsman fires at Private Kantor. Burning a hole into him. Fortunately it was not a well placed hit. (6 points damage 29 remain) Another guardsman misses Private Kantor.

Captain Foser quickly reloads and fires a single shot at the closest guardsman. Inspired as he is he feels luckier than he is and misses (1 round Fired 5.56mm 1 Box magazine empty.)
Private Hagbard fires again and misses the closest guardsman. (4rounds Fired 5.56mm)
The futher guardsman lays down a hail of fire in the area of Private Kantor. Who dodges to avoid the hail of lazer fire..
Lieutenant Stukof stays well hidden and checks his wounds.
The Closest Guardsman fires a hail of lazer fire at Captain Foser. But misses his target area entirely.
Private Kantor again fires with critical precision at the furthest guardsman. The shot instantly drops the guardsman and sprays the area with blood. (3 rounds Fired 5.56mm & 1 40MM Grenade)
-+-+-+-+-
Private Magnus squeezes off another sound suppressed round from his hiding spot. The round makes a bloody mess of the last guardsman who falls dead. (5rounds Fired 5.56mm)

Sergeant Drake you hear the sound of automatic gunfire some distance to the south. This causes some guardsmen to race out of the village down a road south of you. (This does not include the residence of the guard post you planed the bomb on.)

Knowing some of the team are heavily wounded we need to move to cover. As quickly as possible move everyone to take over the postion on the bridge. (we could use that cover for a moment)
"Advance on the bridge, we nee that postion!"
Strip the bodies of gear, intell, and clothes .... and dump them in the river. (hopefully the current will carry them down stream quickly.
'd**n these clothes smell.... what the hell.... how long have they been out here?"
Once the position is taken and we are disguised.... take a moment to check our wounds to see what can be done.

Private Kantor is the first across the bridge taking cover on the far corner. (1/4 Cover = +2AC & +1Reflex save) He takes a position to cover the far side. “There is some sort of large ruined buildings up here. Warehouses of some sort I think”
Private Magnus moves up to the bodies and begins to search them. (Search: 14+12Total:26) Laser Rifles energy packs, some grenades, combat knife, fatigues and some armor, and a canteen. Nothing more of note. “Basic sentries, starting to strip them.” He reports. Private Magnus starts stripping off the blood soaked fatigues and their equipment.
Captain Foser you approach and strip down donning the uniform and armor of one of the imperial soldiers uniforms and armor. You sling your M4 Carbine over your shoulder you pick up one of the imperial Laser Rifles. Private Magnus hands you the energy packs which you slide into your jacket pockets. (You now have a +2 To your disguise check: +3Total ) (Disguise: 8+3Total:11)
Private Hagbard stops to bandage his wounds then also dons an imperial uniform per your instructions. He also slings his rifle over his back and grabs a laser rifle and energy packs. (he now has a +2 To your disguise check: +4Total ) (Disguise: 20+4Total:24) He grunts under his now heavy load. “Ready to go, uff uhm. Sir”
Lieutenant Stukof stops at one of the bodies. He Looks down at the bullet ridden guard uniforms he says “Russian officers do not hide behind bloody uniforms of the enemy. I will be covering you with Private Kantor.” That said he swings his M4 Carbine in front of him and heads across the bridge to beside Private Kantor.
Private Magnus drags the bodies to the river leaving a trail of blood behind him and dumps each of the bodies in turn into the icy water. He dons one of the uniforms of the dead imperial soldiers. (he now has a +2 To your disguise check: +1Total ) (Disguise: 18,+1Total:19) He shoulders his M4 Carbine and lifts a laser rifle. He shifts around his backpack and gear seemingly unpleased. Then brings a set of fatigues armor and rifle to Private Kantor.
Private Kantor reluctantly dons the uniform and lighter armor of the imperial soldier. (he now has a +2 To your disguise check: +2Total ) (Disguise: 10,+2Total:12) He shoulders his M16A4 rifle and hold up a laser rifle. He checks the balance of the weapon and its sights seems unsatisfied but says “Ready sir!”
(Laser Rifle 8lbs, 4 Energy packs 2lbs, Light Combat Armor 6lbs, Guard Fatigues 3 lbs Total 19 lbs. Status change : Kantor, Magnus, Foser medium load, Hagbard heavy load.)
Captain Foser from the far side of the bridge you look and see a small dirt road continuing on to a set of ruined warehouses and further on to a well kept manor house. Then futher along a hill into the main village. On top of the hill you can see a large feudal keep with no doubt some garrison of additional troops.
-+-+-+-+-
Sergeant Drake you take a quick peek from your hiding spot at and assess that the 5 man team is either near or in the building. Hiding around the building again you detonate the explosive charge.
There is a thunderous kaboom (19pts damage to all personnel within 10 ft of the charge. 38 pts to the structure) One of the crew of the heavy machine gun was sheltered enough from the blast to take lighter damage. The Sergeant and one soldier dies from the massive damage of the blast Another is critically injured. The last two take serious wounds. However when the building then collapses the all the injured soldiers are finished off.
+3600 XP You gain a level
You make a dash for the wooded area again hoping to keep out of sight. But you hear from behind you a squad of troops that was headed for the bridge spot you. The squad splits up half heading toward the bridge and half heading toward you. You should be able to make it to the woods before they can get to you if you keep running. The closes of them now is 140 ft away.
-+-+-+-+-
Captain Foser you and your team hear an explosion in the distance and see smoke rise from the far side of the village.
