Sorry the draconians didn't type the other change. All units that aren't dedicated transports are considered scoring units. Most of the restriction I am putting in are just to hose Nids and whatever army anyone else wants to play. It all stems from when I was a young boy and my mother was eaten by a Carnifex. Since then I just had a strange grudge against them. I checked the rules and it says that it's okay to field units in tourneys that you have never used or considered using due to those choices not being the best in that slot.
In fact you might have two things happen if you do. You may find out that you like playing with different models. Secondly, you might have fun playing something different.
Also please keep in mind that these restrictions go away after the first round. After 500 points you can field whatever you want. I don't want someone fielding a unit that is unkillable by their opponent in the first round. I thought these restrictions would address that.

not every Tyranid army needs or wants a Prime. Actually since you are required to have an Hq... Every Tyranid army indeed does in fact Need and want a Prime. (Ok... need anyway)

Travis always makes me laugh (a hearty manly laugh).
I'll take all your anti-tryanid handicaps in stride and still spank all of you like the little girls you are! Think I'll even wear a wifebeater to complete the look.
Can't wait to see chumby wear a dress too.

FWIW Chumby and I playtested 500pts after he tabled my 1850gt list for the 2nd time.
I'm not the fastest player out there, but we got in 5 turns in plenty of time. We rolled 2 objectives/spearhead in the book. Ended in a draw with Logan and my Prime alive running/chasing and everything else dead.
I guess my suggestion for this quick playtest would be: choose the first mission carefully or design ones specifically for the lower point games. 2 objectives is tough as is. KP's would favor anyone who went in with 2 units which is feasible at 500pts.
May get some input from others on the best way to run 500pts. Easy to get a lot of input when it only takes 30min per game. A player-written scenario may be best.

Yeah, drawfests aren't exactly the most engaging games.
A simple 3 objective scenario would work nicely I think. That or just straight VPs. Or maybe a "king of the hill" type set up with only 1 objective in the center.

Changing a previous change I am not limiting troops anymore. You cannot have any of your troops equipped the same. You can have as many vanilla, no upgrades squads as you like.
I am also changing the rules to no special characters. The event should be focused on low level guys trying to make a name for themselves or guys that have fell out of favor trying to get back in favor.

Lol there goes loganwing.
In all fairness tho, restricting tyranids to only one legal hq where wolves could take any up to a 275pt sc is a little lopsided. So good call there Travis.
And a no-comp tourney (besides sc's) woohoo I can finally use all 3 Trygons! Oh wait don't hit me with the nerf bat too!

Jer sorry it's just easier this way.
By no Comp you mean infinite restrictions on making an army and if you bring 3 Trygons you may be killed by the player base and eaten, yes it's perfectly fine to bring them at your own peril.

Wait, so can we field the same Elites/Heavy/Fast units provided they're equipped differently, or is that just Troops?

Quick question re: vehicles. It's no more than 2 of each vehicle, but how does that work with squadrons? No more than 2 Squadrons or 2 vehicles total? My desire for Killa Kanz hinges on it Also, is the limit to 2 HQs gonna stick or do you still hate Daemons?

No more then two of any vehicle period. That may be reduced to one of any vehicle like it had been written originally.
No more then 2 HQ's total. This will not change.
Everything on the rules will be final by midnight tomorrow. I will not be changing anything after that.

Let me help you out with this one Travis.
What he is trying to say is this:
1) This event is supposed to be fun. 2) Don't bring the same old tired spammed out craptastic army that you bring every week. 3) If it is good, take ONE, maybe TWO, not as many as you can take. 4) Leave your broken azz special characters home. 5) Play in this event if you want to have fun, if you want to whine and cry go find a PMS support group. 6) When in doubt and when you have the desire to post another question as to how these draconian and oppressive rules might gimp your precious army, please reread number 1.
Oh yeah, he is feeding you too so shut up before he spits in your pizza!!!!
